I was over at zylers house trying to build this robotic bridge

Zyler: so uh what made you come to James highschool

Me: my aunt Ronda got a new job up here so yeah

Zyler: what about your parents

Me: they died in a house fire

Zyler: s sorry I didn't mean-

Me: it's okay

I looked up at him

Me: so where's your mom

Zyler: she died after giving birth to me

My eyes got wide

Me: oh my- is that why you want to be a doctor

Zyler: yeah I want to figure out why soo many black women die during birth or after birth I want to fix that

Me: you know that's very interesting

Zyler: but my dad wants me to focus on basketball more

He went back fixing the wires

Zyler: nba legend plus he's a sports anchor on espn for college basketball so he has high standards for his children

He looked annoyed saying that

We heard the front door open

Zyler: speaking of the devil himself

Zyler whole body language changed soon as his dad looked at us
