Midwife. "Just a bit more your grace, the child is almost here."
Olivia had no idea where her renewed sense of strength had come from. Maybe it was because of the fact that she didn't allow the pain of childbirth to frighten her. Or, maybe it was the fact that Julian had been with her the entire time, squeezing her hand and giving her words of encouragement. Whatever it was, it enabled her to bring her child into the world with a final cry.
The midwife smiled brightly, holding a screaming bloody baby in her arms. "Congratulations your graces, it is a boy!"
Olivia smiled at Julian, and was just settling back to relax, but was overwhelmed by another wave of contractions. What was happening? She glanced at the midwife as the urge to bear down swept through her once more.
Five minutes later, the midwife was holding a second screaming bloody baby in her arms. Her smile was even brighter. "My word, we have a little girl!"
Julian and Olivia exchanged a shocked but brilliant smile. They had a son and a daughter. They had two beautiful children to love and adore.
Julian fought back tears as his son and daughter were placed against Olivia's chest to begin nursing. "Oh my darling, they are beautiful."
Olivia allowed her tears to fall freely, her smile just as bright. "They are absolutely precious."
Clara came into the room, her green eyes welling up with tears. "Twins?"
Julian. "Twins, a healthy son and daughter."
Clara. "My word, they are a little angels. What are you going to name them?"
Olivia smiled softly. "For our son, Lord Charles Edward Sinclair. Charles after Julian's father and Edward after mine."
Clara. "That is beautiful. And what about for your little princess?"
Julian. "For our daughter, Lady Clara Grace Sinclair. Clara after you mother, and Grace after Olivia's mother."
Clara wiped the tears that began to flow down her cheeks. "Absolutely perfect."
Julian and Olivia exchanged a sweet kiss before turning their attention to Charles and Clara. They couldn't believe that they were a family. Their love had begun as a sweet friendship, then blossomed into more. It was a beautiful relationship that began with a perfect match.
