I rush to the McLaren HQ the next morning, hoping to catch Lando before he starts getting ready for the race in Belgium.

"Hey, do you know where Lando is?" I ask Zak as I stop in front of him.

"No, aren't you his manager? You should know." Zak says before looking back at the cars being tweaked and prepared for racing. Yeah and you're the team principal so you should know too.

"Yeah, sorry. He's probably in his room." I grumble, walking through a hallway and to the door that had Lando Norris printed on it. I knock, praying Lando was there. "Lan?" I call out.

The lock clicks and the door swings open. "Oh, hi!" He says cheerfully. He was in his fireproof and his race suit which was covering his legs but tied around his waist. I bite my bottom lip as soon as he turns around, looking away slightly. "Everything alright?" He asks as he sees me staring at the door.

I jump slightly before my hand flies to the door and I rub a random spot. "Yeah, sorry. Thought I saw a scratch." I lie. He furrows his brows and walks towards me, taking my hand that was rubbing the door into his as he holds it, using his thumb to graze the door.

"Oh, you're right." He mumbles. I look at the spot and relief washes over me as I see a decent scratch in the door. "Why the hell would you point that out?" He whines, dropping my hand. "Now I'm only going to be able to concentrate on that and it's gonna piss me off so much."

I let out a small laugh and walk into the room. "Sorry."

He smiles at me before grabbing his water bottle and putting the straw into his mouth and taking a sip.

"Did-" He starts before pausing.

"Hm?" i say, telling him to continue talking.

"Did you talk to Conner?" He asks, fiddling with the straw of his bottle.

I look down and nod slowly. "I'm so sorry that happened to you." I whisper. I felt so bad.

He shakes his head as he also looks at the ground, biting the inside of his lip as he puts his bottle down. "It's fine."

"No, it's not." I state, walking towards him. "That happened to you and I didn't even give you the chance to speak. I just left when you needed me the most. I'm so sorry."

"(Y/n), this is not your fault at all. I should've just explained to you but I was so hurt by what had happened that I gave up. I shouldn't've given up on you."

"Don't put this on yourself." I say as I stop the tears from falling down his cheek. I hold his face in my hands, pulling him down into a hug. He rests his forehead on my shoulder and his arms wrap around my waist as I feel his shake. He was crying. "It's okay." I whisper rubbing his back.

"I shouldn't have gone to that stupid party in the first place. Then we wouldn't have broken up and you'd still love me like I still love you." He cries, shaking his head. He was being so vulnerable, more than I've ever seen.

"I need time." I whisper. "And you also need time to heal."

"I don't care what I need. If you're here, I'm healing." He says as he stands up straight looking at me in the eyes.

Banging comes from the door as Zak starts yelling. "Lando, time to get in the car!"

Lando lets out a small, irritated sigh and wipes away his tears. "Coming." He says as he lets go of me. He grabs his water bottle once again before his attention turns back to me. "I care about you so much, you have no idea. If time is what you need, then I'll give you that. I'll wait, but don't leave me. Please."

I rush to him, hugging his torso tightly. "Thank you." I whisper. "Friends?" I ask.

"For now." He smiles, kissing my forehead before walking out the room.

I stand there, slightly taken aback from his action. I haven't had affection from him in months, and just a kiss on the forehead was enough for me to forget all my problems.

"(Y/n)!" Zak snaps me out of my train of thoughts. My head shoots towards him as i realise I had been standing in Landos room staring at the wall for the passed 2 minutes. "Lando's pep talk, now! I know you've been off for a while but don't forget your duties." He says as he points a finger at me.

"Right, sorry." I say as I quickly walk out the room and towards Landos car.

Like I did before, I lean against his halo and use my arms as support as my head stops in front of his inside the drivers cockpit.

"Can you hear me?" I ask. His hand leaves his steering wheel as he pushes open his visor and his blue eyes meet mine. His head moves up and down in a nod. "Drive safe. You've got this, okay?" He nods again. I put my hand on the top of his head and silently pray to myself for his safety. I know how dangerous the Belgium track is. Once I was done I pat the top of his helmet.

"What were you doing?" He asks, his voice muffled from his helmet.

"Praying. Now, drive safe. Have fun." I smile, pushing myself out of his halo.
