"No peeking!"
"I'm not peeking."
Satoru's opaque glasses rest above Kaede's nose, her eyes shut as he guides her by the hands. "We've been walking for forever," she points out. "Where are you taking me?"
"You'll see, you'll see."
Kaede can only tell that they are indoors, and nothing else. He stopped her from the moment she stepped out of Chihiro's car, insisting he had a surprise for her.
She hears a door open, before she's pulled into another room.
"Okay, we're here."
Kaede pushes the glasses up into her hair, blinking profusely at the flurry of red swarming a room she doesn't recognize—no, it's her room she realizes, hundreds, if not thousands of red roses, covering every surface possible.
"Happy one month anniversary!" Satoru cheers, the widest grin spread across his face.
She stares wide-eyed. "What the..."
"Oh no," he suddenly scans the room, "It isn't enough, is it?"
"Not enough?" Kaede stammers, "Satoru, I can't see my floor."
"I just wanted to do something nice for you," he pouts, taking her hands up into his own. The way his thumbs aggressively rub her skin is enough to show the true nerves he's feeling. Being the absolute strongest couldn't shield him from the anxiety of a gift for his girlfriend, wanting to make her happy. "I want to give you the world."
Kaede is swept up in adoration, taking his face into her palms as she kisses him. "I don't need the world."
"Are you sure?" he frowns, "I think I could afford it."
"I'm sure you can." She presses her lips to his one more. "But I have you, that's enough."
