"Seriously, Satoru," Kaede sighs, "As if you need any of these on your private island."
The trio had been taking a tour of the mansion, arriving last in the garage lined with luxury cars.
"They're extras," Satoru says simply.
Suguru's expression melts, "Extra?"
"You know, the ones we can't fit in the Tokyo house."
Kaede stands over an orange sports-car and scoffs, "I bet you don't even know how to drive these." Suguru tries to hide a snort as Satoru falls dead silent. Suddenly, Kaede sees the greatest opportunity. "Satoru... do you.... not know how to drive?"
She and Suguru are already trembling trying to withhold their laughter, but they want to hear him admit it. Any chance to find something that Gojo Satoru can't do.
"Fine! I never learned how to drive." The moment he confesses this Kaede and Suguru have lost their minds. They're smacking each other's arms, wiping tears from their eyes. "Why should I? I can fly! What use do I have for a car!"
This only made them laugh harder. At this point, Kaede has fallen to the floor, clutching her stomach. Suguru won't stop slapping his knee.
"I think you guys are enjoying this a little too much."
Kaede and Suguru are panting now, but manage to stop. A phantom giggle escapes each of them every now and then.
"Don't feel bad, Satoru," Suguru says, "Lots of people don't know how to drive."
"Not all of them have fifteen different cars in their garage, though," Kaede says.
Satoru's frown deepens.
"It's fine," Kaede coos. "I'll teach you right now."
Suguru is watching the two with an amused smile. Every time he's offered to teach Satoru how to drive, it's only resulted in him refusing profusely. Now, with a single word from Kaede, Satoru is trying to remember where all the keys are.
"Ah, here there are." Satoru pulls a bowl of keys from a cabinet.
Kaede puts her hand in and picks one at random.
"Let's hope for something slow," Suguru says.
But when she clicks the key, the red sports-car in the corner chimes.
"We're screwed."
"Nonsense," Kaede waves her hand in Suguru's face. "I've been driving since my feet could touch the pedals. I'm a great teacher."
"Uematsu hardly leave the estate," he points out. "What on earth did you learn to drive for?"
"Curse training, you know, in case you need a getaway car from... a curse..." Kaede shook her head, and hopped into the passenger seat. "Forget it."
Suguru seats himself at the back. "Satoru, please try not to kill us."
Satoru gets into the driver seat, which is far too close to the wheel for his legs to fit. He turns left and right, "How do I back the seat up?"
"It should be on the side," Kaede tells him.
He checks again. "I don't see it."
"Suguru, push it from the back."
Spotting the lever immediately, Suguru barely tries to touch it before saying, "I can't reach it."
Kaede takes matters into her own hands, reaching over Satoru and grabbing the lever. Once she pries it up, she pushes Satoru back in his seat by the chest.
"This far enough?"
Suguru watches Satoru's ears turn red, before Kaede's face is suddenly flushing too. Half her body is over his lap, a hand held to his chest. The two have lost track of the world around them, caught in a staring match.
"Seems fine," Satoru gulps.
"Okay," Kaede sits back in her seat. "Now, right pedal is go. Middle pedal is stop. You understand?"
"Right: go. Middle: stop."
"Good. Now foot on the break, turn the car on, and put it in drive." Secretly, Satoru's passengers are glad the cars are parked in reverse. Having to back out seems like a nightmare of its own. He follows Kaede's instructions, and slowly the car begins rolling forward. "Good, now hands on the wheel. Press the gas slowly."
Instantly the car darts forward and out of the garage. They nearly hit a tree had Satoru not yanked the wheel in time.
"Slow down," Kaede says.
"I think I've got it!" Satoru announces, having barely driven the car for less than a minute.
With the car rolling over curbs and teetering back and forth, he takes them onto the main road and floors it. Suguru is in the back, clutching his seatbelt for dear life.
"You're doing great," Kaede lies, trying to keep her lunch down.
"I don't know why I didn't start driving sooner!" Satoru grins, jerking the car wherever he pleases as he breaks the hundred mile mark.
Suguru grimaces, "I know why."
"Satoru, there's a turn coming. Slow down," Kaede says. The car is now darting towards a sharp turn that meets the edge of a cliff. "Satoru, slow down."
"Which one is the slow down pedal again?"
"The middle one—"
It's no use. Satoru turns the wheel, but the speed tips the car over, sending them flying off the cliff's edge. He grabs Suguru by the leg and Kaede the arm, teleporting them back onto the road before the car could hit the water. They all hit the gravel with a thud—everyone except Satoru who gained some cushion for his fall.
Suguru staggers to sit up, managing to laugh at the sight of Satoru's body crushing Kaede's. She groans from beneath him. "I think your ribs are holding hands with my ribs."
Satoru lifts himself, ears red again.
One by one, they all get to their feet, peeking over the edge to see the red bumper disappear beneath the water.
Satoru speaks cheerfully, though. "Okay! Which car should we try next?"
Suguru and Kaede exchange a look of horror.
