Sirius was devastated; his mate had forgotten him. Severus had told him that maybe what was done to him was done to Remus as well, so Sirius shouldn't get too worried. And maybe after they remove the spells and potions, then he will remember, too.
It was decided that Harry wouldn't go back because it was the last three weeks of school. Sirius spent most of his time trying to find Remus. He had first checked his old house, but a different family was living there now.
It was the last day of school, and Severus was due back soon. When he wrote, he said he had good news last night.
He had also been teaching Harry everything he could about werewolves, from mates to the full moon. He had done a lot of reading on them when he found out that he and Remus were mates.
It was night now, and Harry had made dinner for the two of them. They both sat at the table eating when they heard the floo flare.
"What are we doing here?" A voice that Sirius would recognize anywhere asked, making him freeze and look towards the living room.
He slowly stood from his chair and quickly turned his eyes to the living room. He entered the room and gasped at the sight in front of him: a six-foot-two-inch man with light brown hair, a bit of gray, and tanned skin. Deep, dark blue eyes stared back at him.
"Sirius?" Remus asked, looking at him curiously, "You're free?!" He exclaimed, coming over and hugging him.
"Hi, Moony," Sirius said softly.
"How are you? Are you doing OK?" Remus asked, looking him over, and Sirius blushed under his gaze.
"Dad," he heard Harry call behind him and turned to look at the younger lady standing nervously in the doorway.
"You have a son?" Remus asked, shocked, and Sirius felt his heart drop. Even though he had been warned, it still hurt that Remus didn't remember their time together.
"Yeah," he choked out, motioning Harry to come closer. "His name is Harry Lupin-Black," Sirius said, and Remus's eyes went wide as he looked back and forth between the two. Severus slowly made his way out of the room.
"Lupin?" He asked, his voice hesitant and soft.
"We have some things to talk about," Sirius said, placing a hand on Remus's shoulder.
"Cub, why don't you give us a minute? We'll come to find you when we are done," Sirius suggested to Harry, who nodded, giving them a smile before leaving the room.
Sirius led Remus to the couch and sat down, leaving a cushion between them.
Sirius explained everything to Remus from the night of the accident and right up to Severus's explanation.
"So, he's my...son? I'm his father?" Remus asked, and Sirius nodded. "I'm sorry that I don't remember," He said, and Sirius shrugged, fighting back tears.
"It's OK; Severus can help," Sirius said. "He can cast a spell to check what potions or spells you have on you and then remove them," he told the shorter man.
"I would like to try, see what happens," Remus agreed, and Sirius led him to where he knew the potion master was, in his lab.
He knocked on the door to the lab and heard a faint, 'come in', before pushing the door open and entering to see Severus pouring potion into vails.
"Hey, Sev," Sirius said, and the man looked up at them.
"Am I right to assume you want me to run the spell?" He asked, and the two nodded. "Alright, sit on the stool, Remus," He said, placing down the vial.
He came over to Remus and pointed his wand at him, and mumbled something, and a piece of parchment appeared in front of Severus, who snatched it and read it over.
"It seems you only have a few memory-blocking spells and a potion to make your creature weak, almost blocking the connection between the two of you," Severus said, and Remus frowned.
"My creature is weak?" He asked, shocked, and Severus nodded.
"Normally, a werewolf would have control of their wolf, being able to shift when they please almost painlessly. From what I gathered during the time you taught at Hogwarts, you can only change during the full moon. Because that can't be changed, or your creature would go wild and slowly die, with you following shortly after," Several told him, and Sirius gasped, grabbing onto his hand.
"And Dumbledore did this to me?" Remus asked, and Severus nodded.
"So you can reverse it?" The wolf asked hopefully, and Severus turned, going over to the counter behind his workbench and picking up two potions before coming back and handing them to Remus.
"Take these two before you sleep tonight. They should remove the spells and potions. Your memories might not return right away, but if you spend time around familiar things or people, they should help them come back faster. And make sure you don't take them on an empty stomach, but not a full stomach. Maybe a grilled cheese sandwich, and don't drink anything either," he informed Remus. Remus nodded, looking down at the potions in his hands.
"And Sirius," he said, making the shaggy-haired man look up at him. I suggest you sleep in a different room tonight. He can't be touched while the potion is working, or it will have side effects. But behind in a room surrounded by a scent, he is comfortable with it, which should help soothe him a bit," Severus said, and Sirius nodded before leading Remus out of the room.
They went to the kitchen, and Sirius made him sit down at the counter and set about making him a simple grilled cheese sandwich.
He set it in front of the werewolf, who slowly ate, but neither of them said anything. They went to Sirius's room and Remus sat down on the bed, he looked at two potions and sighed while opening the first one.
"Wait," Sirius said, and the man paused. Sirius quickly leaned down and kissed him on the lips before whispering a good night and rushing out of the room.
