TW
MENTION OF SCARS

Neteyams nerves come back as he swam to the creature.

He could hear Aonung cheering him on, leaving a smile on his face.

After a deep breath, he dived under the water.

Once he got a better look at the creature, he saw many scars littering their body.

Much like his own.

He let his curiosity die down quickly and swam right up to the creatures eye.

"Hello my name is Neteyam" he signed

"Hello Neteyam, I'm Talnui (tell-new-e)" the Tulkun squealed.

"Nice to meet you Talnui. Do you have anyone here?" Neteyam signed.

"No I don't, no one seems interested in talking to me this year" Talnui squealed.

"I'm sorry to hear that, I'll talk to you" Neteyam signed with a smile.

In return he received an excited squeak from Talnui.

Neteyam swam closer to Talnui, sitting on the edge of his fin and he floated to the surface.

"You're not a Metkayina" Talnui squealed.

"I'm an Omatikayan, of the forest" Neteyam signed, now free to talk like normal, but still deciding to sign, in respect for Talnui.

"What's a forest boy doing all the way in the reef?" Talnui squealed questioningly.

"There's a growing war in the forest. A sky person is after my dad and I. So our family left. We live here now" Neteyam signed.

"I'm very sorry to hear that Neteyam. My pod went through the same thing. The sky people are hunting us, we've gone very far from the islands" Talnui squealed.

"That sounds awful" Neteyam signed "are you all safe?" He asked

"Yes we are, my mother is the Matriarch of our pod, we must keep them safe" Talnui squealed.

"I understand that. My father is Toruk Makto and the former Omatikayan Olo'eyktan. We must do all we can as a family to help our people" Neteyam signed, feeling a connection to Talnui.

Undoughtly, Talnui felt the same.

The two spent the next few hours talking.

Neteyam learnt everything about the matriarch of the Tulkuns. Talnui's mother was chosen to rule, when she gave birth to him and his brother.

Twins were extremely uncommon in Tulkun calves. The tulkun worshiped a mother who gave birth to two calves.

Making them the matriarchy of the pod.

They all seen it as a gift from Eywa.

Neteyam thought this was fantastic, how Talnui was a twin.

He himself wouldn't know what he would do if he didn't have his siblings. He was glad Talnui had that same experience.

Neteyam couldn't help looking at all of Talnui scars.
