TW PANIC ATTACK

Neteyams mind went blank.

He immediately felt rooted into the sand.

His feet would not move.

The hand that Tonowari held, tensed instantly.

The metal banging and yelling of celebration, quickly morphed into screams, slurs, bangs and pain.

Sounds of his past.

Aonung seen Neteyams reaction before the horn even blew.

His eyes widened, almost snapping his neck to look at Neteyam as the first set of bangs went off.

The boys face had gone white, his eyes widened with fear, his cheats rising and falling very fast.

He was panicking.

Aonung knew that Neteyam wouldn't stay rooted in his place for very long.

He knew the voices in his head would soon win, and the boy would bolt.

He was ready to sprint.

The crowd started the party, yelps and celebration began. Everyone's attention turned to the tables on the beach, filled with food and drinks.

The two boys family's stood beside them, smiling wildly at the blossoming crowd. Unaware of what was going through Neteyams mind at that very moment.

Tonowari dropped both boys hands, bringing Neteyam back into the present, for just a moment.

Aonungs eyes widened even further as he saw Neteyams lip quiver, and his eyes well up in tears.

Jake noticed his son's quickly changed demeanor, leaning down to say something to the boy.

But before he could, Neteyam bolted.

His breath retched at his throat, stuck.

"Neteyam wait!" Jake called.

Before he could rush after his frightened son, a hand grabbed his shoulder, pulling him back gently.

"He's got it" Neytiri spoke softly, nodding her head in one direction, watching as Jake's eyes shifted to the teal boy already sprinting after Neteyam.

Neteyam sprinted past the unknowing crowd, his tears beginning to stream.

Uncontrollable sobs escaping his mouth, trying to gasp for air.

"Teyam!" Aonung called from behind him.

He didn't hear the boy, his mind too stuck on trying to run away.

He ran faster than he ever ran before.

Running away from the voices, from the banging, from the pain.

Neteyam ran all the way from the beach, in through the village, all the way to his family's mauri.

Not even making it half way through the flap.

He collapsed, his back falling on the wall just inside.

Aonung began to walk, realizing the boy had finally sat down.

He could hear the boys rushed, gasping breath and sobs.

Aonung crouched down right by the wall on the outside of the mauri.

He placed his hand gently on the woven flax of the wall.

Taking a deep breath before speaking over the now muffled sobs of his boyfriend.

"Neteyam put your hand to your chest" he said

"What?" Neteyam breathed.

"Put your hand on your chest" Aonung said again.

He knew the boy had done just that, because he heard Neteyam start to control his breathing.

"In and out" Aonung spoke softly, taking his own advice in the moment.

Neteyam did just that.

Breathing in and out deeply, soothing his howling mind and rapid breathing.

"Teyam, it's ok. I'm here" he said "I'm here"

Neteyam heard those words and dipped his head out of the flap.

His eyes landing in an ocean full of blue.

He slowly scooted out from inside of the mauri, moving next to Aonung.

His sobs slowed as Aonung wrapped a gentle arm around Neteyam, holding him tightly.

The exact way Neteyam liked to be held.

Securely.

"It's okay Teyam" Aonung whispered, pulling the boy closer.

"The banging" Neteyam said "it took me there"

Aonung eyes almost let his hidden tears fall.

He hated seeing Neteyam in so much pain when these things happened.

"I have told you so many times my love" Aonung whispered, lifting Neteyams head up by his chin to look at him "you are safe. You are safe here with me. I promise"

Neteyam eyes shon with light through his tears.

He leaned in to kiss Aonung lips softly, before nuzzling his face into the boys neck.

Aonung in turn, lent his chin on top of the boys head, breathing a deep sigh of relief as the boy calmed down.
