Jaune Arc: The Gamer System Vigilante

Chapter 9

Jaune was with Lilly, Yae, Ei (Raiden Shogun) as they travelled down a village that rumors to have human hybrid Grimm attacking and killing villagers

"Jaune where are we going?" Lilly asked curious as she saw their surroundings are mountains and forest

"This is the home of a tribe that disappeared after a giant Grimm monster attack and then killed all of the villagers and animals." Jaune explained "We are investigating here before we move on to the next location"

Lilly nodded her head understanding at this "Understood Jaune. Will the others be joining us later?" Lilly asked curiously

"Yes they will," Jaune replied, "Until then let's see what we can find out about this place." he suggested.

"Sounds like fun!" Yae chirped excitedly making Jaune chuckled lightly at her enthusiasm.

"Lead the way Jaune." Lilly said as Jaune led them through the forest towards a small clearing. The sun shone brightly upon the land as birds sang merrily in the trees while bees buzzed amongst the flowers. The air smelled fresh and clean as if nothing had ever disturbed it before. Jaune stopped suddenly and held out his hand, signaling for them to halt.

Ei sensing it too had a katana in her hand as Lilly drew her bow arrow ready to attack

Jaune cautiously scanned the area for any signs of life. He spotted movement behind a tree and instantly focused his attention on it. Suddenly he was tackled down by a small black haired girl with purple eyes wearing a purple kimono with a dark purple haori with a purple flower print at the bottom and a long sleeve kimono underneath, all over a black obi. She landed on top of him pinning him to the ground with her weight while giggling happily. "Gotcha!" She exclaimed excitedly.

' This girl reminds me of my little sister' Jaune thought amused at her antics

"Who are you and what do you want?" Jaune demanded asking at the child who laughed loudly before standing up and holding out her hand helping Jaune back to his feet.

"Hi! My name is Kazeko!" 12 year old Kazeko introduced herself, "I'm sorry if I startled you." She apologized sheepishly, "I just wanted to play."

Jaune shook his head amused at her antics, "It's okay. I understand. What were you doing out here alone anyway?" he asked curiously.

"My father left me alone while he went out hunting," Kazeko explained sadly, "I got bored and decided to explore this place. It's really beautiful here," she commented smiling brightly.

"Grimm attacked the village many years ago." Jaune explained as Kazeko eyes widen in shocked

"...Wait my father is dead?" Kazeko asked as tears fell from her eyes making Jaune heartbreak at this "My brother....my brother was 16 and he is the strongest warrior in this village....he might have died too" Kazeko cried sobbing at this knowledge that her family is most likely gone

"I am sorry kid." Jaune said hugging Kazeko

"Why would you think your brother was stronger than you?" Lilly asked confused making Ei frowned at her rudeness

Kazeko smiled weakly at Jaune and replied in a quiet voice, "Because I am not strong enough yet." she explained, "My brother always told me that I wasn't ready to fight and that I still needed training."

"Training? You mean combat training?" Jaune asked curiously making Kazeko nod her head yes as she sniffled quietly, "I didn't want him to leave me alone in the village, but he insisted that I stay here...with dad." Kazeko explained sadly as she stared at Jaune with wide tearful purple eyes, "Can you take me back to my home?" she begged him "Please! I want to see if my family survived!" she pleaded desperately.
