Clubbing

"Good morning class, today we will start to work on your projects", the professor started to tell. I started to breathe heavier as I glanced at Luka who was sitting next to me. He was scrolling through Instagram which made me roll my eyes.

"You'll get one class free per week to work on your project and it is this class", the professor said. I raised my eyebrows as people started to pack their bags. "See you all next week, have a great weekend!", professor Sedford yelled over the chatting.

I started to pack my bag, as did Luka. I stood next to him awkwardly before I asked, "Where do you want to work on this project?". He glanced at me and said, "I don't care". I rolled my eyes and said, "Fine. Let's go to a cafe then".

We walked next to each other without saying a word. At the cafe he opened the front door for me, making me give him a small smile.

I chose a table in a corner next to the window for us before I went to place my order. From the front desk I looked at Luka's back sitting on the chair. He was brushing his hair back with his right hand before he took his laptop out.

After we both had gotten our coffees and the awkward silence was too much to handle, I asked, "Do I have to study you with all of your friends?". He took a sip of his coffee, not answering, even tough he was looking at me. I raised my eyebrows which made him note, "You don't drink coffee".

I looked down at my cappuccino, shocked that he remembered. "I-I drink it sometimes", I stuttered as I looked at him with wide eyes. He took a sip of his coffee before he answered my question, "I think you can just study my friend group, not people like JC or any of them".

Hearing JC's name made me more tensed and I could notice it did the same for him. I licked my lips before saying, "And you should study Anastasia, Mila and Love I guess". He nodded as he started to write something on his computer.

I got a idea that I was a bit scared to tell him but also I hated the idea. I cleared my throat before saying, "I'm actually going to the carnival with Love and Mila tomorrow". I fidgeted my fingers as I heard him say, "Oh really?". I rolled my eyes as I saw his smirk. "Are you asking me to come with you guys?", he asked, leaning closer to me over the table.

My chest rose heavier as I said, "I'm not inviting you, but you could study us there". He crossed his arms over his chest and asked, "Tomorrow then?". I looked into his piercing eyes and nodded, "Yes, I'll have a wedding to attend on Sunday".

I was typing on my laptop as he asked, "A wedding?". I nodded slowly as I said, "My childhood best friend invited me". He gave me a quick nod before we continued to work on our project.

I walked into the club alone since Anastasia was working tonight. I think everyone should experience clubbing alone at least once. So here's my experience.

I scanned the room, no one I knew in sight. People were mingling in the bar. I walked to the bathroom, took a big breath, put on more lipgloss, and walked back out there with my head high.

I sat down on a bar stool, waiting for a bartender to notice me. "One vodka shot", I yelled over the music. The bartender nodded and started to pour it. I watched it carefully. No pills are going into my drinks.

Suddenly a girl sat next to me. She gave me a dashing smile before she ordered. "Hey, I'm Dafne", she yelled. I was a bit confused but answered, "Hi, I'm Kiara". She smiled at me and said, "Nice to meet you! I'm doing this thing where I'm trying to talk to random people".

"What?! You're just talking to random people?", I asked, my eyes widening in shock. She started to nod and said, "Yeah, it's so fun! Wanna come talk to random people with me?", she chuckled. I didn't even think about it, "Hell yeah!", I screamed, standing up.

I followed her lead as she chose a table where we went to sit down. "Hey, I'm Dafne", she said to the group. There was one guy and two girls. "Hey", they all said before I introduced myself also.

I sat down between Dafne and the random guy who seemed familiar.  "Hey didn't we go to the same summer camp?", I asked with my high pitched drunk voice. His eyes widened as he said, "Roselock 2018?". I nodded eagerly and started laughing as did he. "The one where Anastasia and Jessica was?", he asked again, taking his phone out. "Yes!", I yelled over the music as I saw him going to the group chat on his phone.

"Which one is your number?", he asked. I scrolled a bit down and pointed at my number, "there". "It was so nice to meet you", I laughed as we shook hands. "Yeah same!", he said. "I'm gonna buy a drink, see you later!", I laughed as I left the table. I shook my head as a smile took over my face as I was walking to the bar desk. I sat on a stool and looked at a guy group ahead of me. One of them was looking back so I shot him a flirty smile.

After getting my drink, I joined the group again. "Yeah, we're actually sisters", Dafne yelled to the girls. I turned my head rapidly to look at her before I looked at the group and nodded. "Oh my god, I can definitely see it!", the other girl said, making me and Dafne laugh.

I was dancing with Dafne along to Rihanna. No one else was dancing but the DJ played our favorite songs as he put the smoke machine on. The club was quite empty since it was only Thursday.

All I could see was Dafne's silhouette as the lights were flashing. I could feel the music as alcohol filled my bloodstream. I felt like I was high. I felt like I was light as a feather, like there was no one in this world and I could do whatever I want.

This was the first time ever when I didn't end up going home with a guy, instead I made a new friend, Dafne. I'll definitely be clubbing with her in the future.

This night made me remember all the good times when I first started clubbing. Lately clubs have been like a workplace for me, client hunt. But clubs used to be for having fun and dancing, ignoring every guy who approached me. I didn't even realize how much things had changed and how much I miss the past version of clubbing.
