[26: "IT JUST ISN'T OUR FATE" : TRUTH]

It's been about 2 weeks since the incident. Sunghoon was recovering fairly well, and back to his normal, arrogant self. At least that's what Cheonsa was told.. Sunghoon hadn't talked to her in days.

Jake explained that he felt like she was emotionally detached... yet, he's wasn't even giving her the chance to show emotion. Everyday guilt consumed
Cheonsa more and more. 'What if I stayed when he asked?' Kept repeating in her mind.

"Hey Cheonsa." Niki said, sitting next to her. "Hi Niki." She sighed. Niki frowned a bit, "what's the matter?" He asked. "Sunghoon is ignoring me... now I know how it feels. Have you ever been so attached to someone that when you go so long without them you just feel empty?" Cheonsa asked. Niki looked at her while nodding. "I know that feeling exactly." He said.

Cheonsa sighed and just began working on her assignment. "But hey, he'll come around right?" Niki asked. "Maybe." Cheonsa said. "He definitely will, so don't worry." Niki said softly, rubbing her shoulder. Cheonsa smiled faintly but there was still uncertainty underlying her smile.

Niki noticed her facade and frowned. "How about we go get ice cream after classes?" He suggested. "Sure." Cheonsa shrugged. Niki continued rubbing her shoulder softly. "He'll come around so don't worry too much. Mkay?" He said softly. Cheonsa just nodded. "I mean it's my fault that he's ignoring me. I have no choice but to wait until he comes back around." She said. Niki nodded.

Sunghoon sat in his office, silently sipping on his tea. He hummed as he felt the warm liquid soothe his throat. He sat his tea down and sat down normally in his chair, going through paper works and deals he had to catch up on since his discharge.

"Good morning Mr. Park." Yunjin said. "Hello." Sunghoon replied. "Why hasn't Cheonsa attended my practice these past few days. Is she okay?" Yunjin asked. "Since when do you care about Cheonsas whereabouts, Yunjin?" Sunghoon sighed, rubbing his temples.

Yunjin furrowed her eyebrows. "Is something going on between you two?" She asked. "No." Sunghoon replied immediately. Yunjin sighed. "Mr. Park... if you and Cheonsa keep having so many problems and conflicts... maybe it's not meant to be.."

Sunghoon finally looked up from his papers. Yunjin bit the inside of her cheek. "I'll talk to her when I'm ready." Sunghoon said after some time. Yunjin sighed and nodded. "If that's what you feel is best Mr. Park."

Cheonsa sighed as she stood in front of the stairway to Sunghoons office. She adjusted her dress and hair before gently knocking on the door. After waiting for about 2 minutes, she knocked again. Immediately being met with Sunghoon, who had an unreadable expression on his face. They stared at each other for what felt like an eternity.

Sunghoons lips parted, as if he were going to speak, but he remained silent. After a few seconds, Cheonsa finally spoke up. "Hey.." She said softly. "What are you doing here?" Sunghoon asked. "I just came to check on you after... everything." Cheonsa replied. Sunghoon examined her face before sighing. "Well I'm fine so you can leave now."

"Why are you avoiding me?" Cheonsa asked. Sunghoon pinched his nose and sighed, furrowing his eyebrows. "As if you weren't avoiding me for your classes that you never really cared about until recently." He said. "That— you're taking it the wrong way." Cheonsa sighed. "Am I?" Sunghoon asked, raising his brow skeptically.

"You know what— all we've been doing lately is fighting and I'm sick of it." Cheonsa said. "So am I, that's why I'm not talking to you." Sunghoon said. "If we never communicate, how will our relationship work out?" Cheonsa asked. "Maybe it's not meant to work, Cheonsa." Sunghoon said. Cheonsas lips parted and her eyebrows raised.

After what felt like an endless pit of silence, Cheonsa spoke, "What— what do you mean it's not meant to work out?" She asked. "I mean.. let's be honest here. We stayed around each other mainly because you wanted protection and I wanted my powers and guess what.. I have my powers so— I don't really care." Sunghoon said. "But—" Sunghoon held up a hand to prevent Cheonsa from speaking further.

"It just isn't our fate." Sunghoon said, "accept it. Without me, you'll be safe and protected. You were at risk because of my power. I have my power, you have your safety.. do we really need each other anymore? I'm thinking of you here."

Cheonsa just stood there, shock evident on her face. Sunghoon sighed, "please say something." "What is there to say?" Cheonsa asked. Sunghoon pushed himself off of the door frame and put his hands in his pocket. "Don't take what I said the wrong way." Sunghoon finally said. Cheonsa didn't maintain eye contact. "Cheonsa—" "You're right." Cheonsa said.

Sunghoon was taken aback. He took his hands out of his pocket and sighed. "I am?" He asked. Cheonsa nodded. "Perhaps that bond we formed was revolves around your... little magic thing you've got going on." She said, "You were in love with your powers, not me. Right?" "You're taking it the wrong way." Sunghoon sighed. "Am I?" Cheonsa asked. Sunghoon bit the inside of his cheek. "You are."

Cheonsa just turned around and walked down the stairs. Her footsteps echoing through the mostly empty building. Sunghoon just stood there. He didn't know the true feeling he was feeling. Regret? Pity? Loneliness? He furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head before going back inside.

Hyunjin sat at his desk while holding his finger to his chin. Seungmin grabbed the demon book off of the shelf and handed it to him. "My plan, I realized it won't work." Hyunjin said, sitting up straight. "Why not sir?" Seungmin asked. "The girl doesn't have the demons powers anymore." Hyunjin said, "so this'll be easier than I thought."

Seungmin raised a brow. Hyunjin looked at him. "Originally, I thought Cheonsa still possessed Sunghoons powers but then I realized; if he healed her the day of the incident, they must've transferred back to him, yes?" Seungmin hummed as the new realization dawned upon him.

"The new plan still requires the girl." Hyunjin said. Seungmin tilted his head, "why?" "We need to lead Sunghoon to us somehow right?" Hyunjin asked, a disturbing smile falling upon his face. Seungmin nodded slowly. Hyunjin flipped through the pages. "It reads, 'if you kill a demon, their powers can transfer to you' this is lovely." Hyunjin chuckled.

Cheonsa sat in her room silently, staring at the ceiling. The only noises being the ticking of the clock and her steady yet shaky breathing. Sunghoons words repeated in her head over and over.

"It just isn't our fate."
"It just isn't our fate."
"It just isn't our fate."

Was all she could think of. The words rang in her mind, it was overweighting the sounds of the clock and her breathing. The words hit her like a freight train. She rolled over and grabbed her phone, seeing multiple missed calls from Niki. She sighed and called him back.

"Cheonsa." Niki greeted, "why haven't you been answering?"

"Sorry." Cheonsa replied, "I was asleep."

"Ah okay.. are you okay? You never nap this late." Niki said. "Sunghoon and I have officially went our separate ways." Cheonsa replied. "Oh... I'm sorry to hear that." Niki said softly. "It's okay." Cheonsa assured. "It just wasn't our fate to begin with."
