Episode 84: Device Ready!

Jade-
I finally got the frequency I wanted. "Yes!" I exclaimed.
"You good?" Yo asked.
"Yeah! I just...finally got the frequency I wanted." I said.
"Nicely done, to no one's surprise." Yo said.
I chuckled and then frowned. "Are you ok, Yo?" I asked.
"I just needed a place to get away from everyone, and this area always makes me feel safe since it's the doctor's area." Yo said.
"You wanna talk about it or..." I began.
"I sorta...went slightly unhinged fighting Stain." Yo said.
"Unhinged how?" I asked.
"I just snapped under all of the pressure and all of the attacks he kept throwing at me." Yo said.
"Yo..." I began.
"It's dumb." Yo said.
  "If it's making you feel like this...it's not dumb." I said.
  Yo sighed. "I know it's been a while since The Raiders tortured me and Akuma's people tortured me...but..." Yo began.
  "Yo, you never got to process what happened. Things just kept happening." I said.
  "I just feel kinda pathetic dwelling on things that happened two and three years ago but you...you went through this last year and that was a few months ago." Yo said.
  "You're not pathetic Yo. Trust me." I said.
  "How do you do it?" Yo asked.
  "Hmm?" I asked.
  "Not crack under all of the pain?" Yo asked.
  "I don't. Yo, I do a really good job about waiting until everyone is out of my vicinity to breakdown. I am broken." I said.
  "You...are?" Yo asked.
  "Yo, I need you to understand something. I went through hell for 14 years on earth at my own family's hands. Dr. Mort experimented and tortured everyone on The Ark for 100 years until we found this place. Slade and Nyssa tortured me on The Ark and I had to watch Yu and Tsunagu torture Kirishima for 6 months. I got shot in the spine and had my ACL torn and fucked up for the rest of my life. I had surgery on my back and knee without anesthesia or sterility. I had my bone marrow brutally extracted by Xia and Barba for 10 months. I got sick with a virus meant to be a bio weapon. I got taken and tortured by Akuma and forced to watch Kai torture Hanta. I got kidnapped by Xia and tortured by Toya, Barbra, and their whole crew for a year. The man I love saw me naked and torture to all hell, and I watched him get electrocuted. I was stranded in the desert with him too! You think I'm really ok after all of that? Hell fuckin' no, I just do a really good job letting myself feel...when no one else is around. I can't tell you how many times I've cried since I got back here. You boys are all the same, whether you want to admit it or not. None of you let yourselves feel, not even when you're alone. It's not the end of the world you know, to let yourself feel the feelings and emotions you have bottled up when no one is around to watch. It's not weak." I said.
  Yo teared up and he hugged me. "Oh! O-k." I said, hugging him.
  "I never realized how much you've been through." Yo said, and I chuckled, hugging him.
  He didn't let go for a good while, and then he did. "Yo...there you are, we were looking for you." Midoriya said.
  "Huh...oh. Hey guys." Yo said.
  "You ok man?" Tetsu asked.
  "Yeah...I'm good now." Yo said.
  "Good, then come on! We need help building some shit." Bakugo said.
  "Ok." Yo said, and I smiled at them.
  They all hugged me and I hugged them back, before they all left. "Oh! Can one of you tell Hanta I made the device." I said.
  "Heard!" Tetsu exclaimed.
  I chuckled as they scurried off. I exhaled and Elarza smiled at me. I smiled back at her and she hugged me. "You are a good friend." Elarza said.
  I smiled. "I'd like to think so." I said, and Elarza chuckled.
She sat beside me and I laid my head on her shoulder. "So, how are you?" Elarza asked.
  "In pain, tired...mostly just in pain." I said.
  Lapis sat on my other said and I hugged her. "This place is amazing." Lapis said.
  "It is, isn't it?" I asked.
  "They're in here dad!" Zeke shouted, as he and Seth walked in with dad behind them.
  "Your mom was looking for you girls." Dad said.
  "Oh!" Elarza exclaimed.
  "There you are!" Mom shouted, and I smiled at them as they hugged.
  "Hope I'm not interrupting. Tetsu told me that you got it done?" Hanta asked.
  "Yeah." I said, handing him the device.
  "What's it do?" Hanta asked.
  I rolled my eyes. "Push the button and toss it." I said, and Hanta did that, he plugged his ears and the sound let off.
  "Whoa! You got the frequency!" Hanta exclaimed.
  "Yep, have the Nightwatchers use it tonight, it should repel the Harbingers permanently. I'll make more." I said.
  "Sweet, you're the best." Hanta said.
  I chuckled and he headed off. My smile faded and I exhaled, pushing my hand into my forehead. "What's wrong?" Seth asked, sitting beside me.
  I closed my eyes and just buried my head into Seth's chest. He pulled me into him and I just cried. "It's ok Jade...I know you're hurting more than just physically." Seth whispered.
  I let him just hold me like a baby against him.

  Shoto-
  "OW! Fucking shit!" I yelled, shaking my hand.
  "You good?" Hanta asked.
  "Yeah I just...stabbed myself with a nail." I said, and Hanta chuckled.
  "Jade—" Hanta began.
  "Jade!?" I asked, excitedly, as I tried to stand up and bumped my head on a piece of wood Luke and Gray were carrying.
  "Ow." I said, rubbing the back of my hand.
  "Sorry." Gray and Luke said, in sync.
  Hanta chuckled. "—finished the weapon. If you wanna call it that." Hanta said, pressing the button and tossing it.
  I plugged my ears as the sound went off. "She got the frequency." I said.
  "Yep." Hanta said, as he and I walked to the Nightwatchers and gave them the baton. "Test this, see if it works, and then Jade will make more." Hanta said.
  "Will do." Tokoyami said.
  Hanta lit a cigarette and started smoking. "Can I ask you something?" I asked.
  "Uh-huh." Hanta said.
  "Are you and Daeva a couple?" I asked.
  Hanta about choked on his cigarette. "No! No! I mean...hell I wish we were, but no. I'm not her type, I'm bad for her." Hanta said.
  "I think you should ask her." I said.
  "Nah man, I'm telling you. She doesn't like me like that. I mean, she saved my life by giving me her blood and helped me through recovery, but that's because she's a healer." Hanta said.
  "I think she likes you." I said.
  "No! Wait...really?" Hanta asked.
  "Yeah dude." I said.
Hanta chuckled, blushing a bit. I smiled at him and we headed out with the Nightwatchers.
