The corridors of the Castle seemed colder and sadder nowadays. For the last month that Mackenzie has walked these corridors, she began missing the laughter she could hear every now and then coming from Alexis and Bella, all thanks to Henry.
Since the whole Henry/Alexander debacle that Mackenzie has noticed a concerning change in Bella. Much like when Jensen died, Bella has retreated into herself, pushing everyone away, with the exception of Alexis. The biggest difference is that now, not even the young girl is able to make Bella smile as wide and as sincere as she used to.
Mackenzie knows that Bella blames herself for not trusting Henry, for believing in Alexander as quickly as she did, and that is the main reason why she spends all of her free time alone in her room, in an attempt to avoid making any more mistakes. What Bella doesn't see is that she is shutting herself from the world and that that hurts not only her but all those that love her.
She takes a deep breath, thinking that she needs to do something and that maybe her mother might have some idea or insight into this hellish situation that Bella is seeing herself in.
She knows, no, she is sure that Bella and Henry's feelings remain the same, then why can't they just talk and solve this? Is it really that hard to just talk and clear everything up? She doesn't think so, but what does she know?
Mackenzie turns a corner, getting closer to her mother's room, and runs into the last person she wants to see.
-"Mackenzie!!"
-"Leave me alone." - She walks past him, not sparing a look in his direction.
-"Why so hostile?" - A smile graces Alexander's lips.
-"Are you serious?"
-"Honestly, I have no idea why you're upset with me."
-"How about because you're a prick? You need to stay away from me before I do something I will definitely not regret."
-"And what might that be?" - Alexander chuckles.
Mackenzie smiles sweetly at him, walking slowly up to him, before slapping him as hard as she can, leaving a large cut on his cheek, courtesy of an upside down ring.
-"That."
Mackenzie walks way, smirking, feeling a little lighter now that she managed to take some of her anger out on him. She saw the small trickle of blood that slipped through his fingers when he held his cheek and how anger twisted his features as he looked at her. But there is nothing he can do to her that won't land him in the dungeons and he knows it.
To be fair, she had warned him, and still he persisted, perhaps thinking that she wouldn't do anything. How wrong he was. With any luck, he will be left with a permanent reminder not to mess with her and the ones she loves.
