Bella sits in the tent, her shackles back on, Amara sitting across from her, both women quiet. She looks down at herself and it takes everything in her not to start crying again. She knows her father will be showing up at any moment and she refuses to give him the satisfaction of seeing her cry.
She remembers the first time she saw that dress, she was just six years old and her mother was telling her all about her wedding day, showing her the dress and saying how one day Bella would wear one just like that one.
Bella remembers thinking how beautiful the dress was and how she couldn't wait to get married so she could have one just as beautiful. The wish of a child who didn't know any better and who could never imagined that when the day came for her to marry, she would marry wearing a simple white dress, yet across from her stood the man that she loved with all her heart.
She smooths a crease in the dress, caressing the fabric, and wonders what her mother would say if she was here, seeing her daughter being forced to marry a man she absolutely hates while wearing her wedding dress.
Logan chooses that moment to walk in, stopping in his tracks when he sees her. Bella looks back at him and stands up, thinking if this is the end, then she will go out fighting.
-"Why am I wearing my mother's wedding dress?"
There's an edge to her voice that seems to go unnoticed by Logan, who keeps staring at her, almost as if he was frozen in place. That's when Bella realizes just how much she must look like her mother in that dress, since she always looked more like her mother than her father.
-"Is this what I'm to wear to my execution?"
-"It's time." - Logan looks at Amara, before smirking at Bella.
Amara stands and walks over to where Bella is standing, placing a hand on her shoulder and lightly pushing her forward. Bella lets Amara lead her out of the tent, both women following Logan, across the camp and to the edge of the battlefield.
As they approach the edge of the battlefield, Bella spots Alexander and knows she needs to act surprised and angered, the last one not too difficult to do.
-"What is he doing here?"
-"There will be no execution today. Instead, I thought we could have a wedding." - A smile spreads across Logan's face.
-"It seems I wasn't wrong after all." - Alexander smirks at her.
-"I would rather die than marry him."
-"You should be grateful I'm willing to let you live and marry a good man like Lord Roberts. Maybe once you're married, your little attitude might change. Lord Roberts has been kind enough to assure me that he will make it happen."
-"Oh, that is so not happening."
-"That's fine by me. I love a challenge, as you well know." - Alexander smiles at her before turning to Logan. -"Is everything ready?"
Logan nods in response and signals to two guards. Bella feels the men grabbing her by the arms and start to push her forward. She digs her heels, refusing to move, asking Logan not to do this, but the guards are stronger than her and just drag her forward.
Bella is taken to the front of her father's army, to the place where a priest is waiting nervously, and looks over to Josh's army, just as she is forced to stand next to the priest and across from Alexander. "Do something.", she thinks as she looks at Josh, seeing him slowly raising his arm. She feels a sharp tug on her shackles that forces her to look at Alexander, who is smiling victoriously at her.
Bella doesn't know where it came from. She heard the whistle of something cutting through the air and all of a sudden it was just there. An arrow, lodged across the priest's shoulder, sending the man hollering.
All hell broke loose after that. The soldiers around them all look from where that arrow came, raising their shields in case more are coming, the priest runs for his life and Alexander grabs Bella's shackles, trying to get her back to her father. But Bella isn't going back, not if she can help it.
Bella fights Alexander, using the few things Jared has taught her over the years and manages to free herself from him. Not really thinking, she makes a run for it, towards Josh's side of the battlefield, praying that she can make it before something else happens.
She can hear shouts coming from her father's side of the battlefield and she knows it's him ordering his men forward. Soon, she can hear the men running, their armor clinking as they charge the enemy, and war cries sound from behind her.
What Bella isn't expecting is to hear a second set of voices coming from her left, as well as horses galloping her way. She risks a look in that direction and can't stop the smile when she realizes who is coming.
There, coming from deep in the woods that surround the battlefield and her father's camp, Bella sees Henry's army rushing out, effectively surrounding Logan's army. And at the head is Henry, riding his horse as fast as he can towards her, a look of pure determination on his face.
Making a split second decision, Bella turns to her left, heading straight for Henry. She can easily guess what Henry's plan is and will do what she can to make it happen. Only, she never quite makes it, a sharp pain hitting her side just as she's getting closer to Henry, his scream the last thing she hears.
