The next day during lunch period, Isabella walked into the cafeteria with Taylor and Gabriella after they got what they wanted. They walked in and everyone turned around and stared at Isabella.
"Why is everybody staring at you guys?" Isabella asked Gabriella and Taylor in confusion, causing the other two to shake their heads.
"Not us, you." Gabriella corrected Isabella, causing Isabella to get a distressed look on her face as she looked around at everyone.
"Because of the callbacks?" Isabella exclaimed as she frantically looked around the cafeteria. "I can't have people staring at me! I really can't!"
All of a sudden the students on the main floor of the cafeteria bursted out into a dance and song, causing the three girls to jump and share a confused look before they started to walk through the crowd to try and find an empty table. As they were walking, Isabella didn't notice a spilled carton of milk on the floor, causing her to slip and lose hold of her tray. All of a sudden there was a shrill scream from behind Isabella, causing the cafeteria to go silent.
"Ahhh!" Isabella heard Sharpay scream, causing her, and everyone else, to turn to see Sharpay right behind Isabella with Isabella's cheese fries on her chest. Isabella gasped in shock before she tried to wipe Sharpay's jacket.
"I am so sorry." Isabella hurriedly apologized as she tried to clean off Sharpay's jacket, causing Taylor to quickly steer her and Gabriella to a secluded table in the cafeteria.
As this was happening, Troy, who had just entered the cafeteria, started to walk over to Isabella in concern when he noticed what was happening. He didn't make it far then Chad rushed over to him and stopped Troy from moving by placing a hand on his shoulder.
"You do not want to get into that, man." Chad warned Troy while he pointed at Sharpay. "Too much drama."
"Yeah." Troy whispered in shock as he let Chad lead him away.
"What is going on here?" Ms. Darbus exclaimed angrily as she walked over to Sharpay when she noticed that Sharpay was covered in the cheese sauce from the cheese fries.
"Look at this! That Isabella girl just dumped her lunch on me, on purpose. It's all part of their plan to ruin our musical. And Troy and his basketball robots are obviously behind it." Sharpay snapped, saying what she honestly thought was the reason that Isabella and Troy auditioned. " Why do you think he auditioned? After all the hard work you've put into the show, it just doesn't seem right!"
Sharpay huffed before turning around and storming upstairs, causing people to move aside quickly as Sharpay ran upstairs. After Sharpay left, Ms. Darbus quickly walked off.
"What's up?" Troy asked Chad, confused on what exactly just happened.
"What's up? Oh, let's see... um." Chad sarcastically said as he pretended to think. "You missed free period workout yesterday to audition for some heinous musical And now suddenly people are... confessing." Chad rambled before pulling Zeke over towards them as he walked by. "Yeah, and Zeke. Zeke is baking. Crème brûlée!"
"Oh what's that?" Troy asked in wonder.
"Oh, it's a creamy custard-like filling with a caramelized surface. It's really satisfying." Zeke gushed with a large grin as he and Troy nod their heads excitedly.
"Shut up Zeke!" Chad exclaimed, causing Zeke's face to fall before walking away as Chad and Troy go over to a table.
"Look, you see what's happening here man? Our team is coming apart because of your singing thing. Even the drama geeks and the brainiacs suddenly think they can... talk to us." Chad exclaimed as he pointed to the different groups of students and Troy looked around the cafeteria in shock. "Look, the skater dudes are mingling. Suddenly people think that they can do other stuff. Stuff that is not their stuff. They've got you thinking about show tunes when we've got a playoff game next week."
As Chad stormed out of the cafeteria, Isabella was sitting at her table in between Gabriella and Taylor as she continued to freak out about what had just happened.
"Is Sharpay really really mad at me?" Isabella asked the two girls in concern. "I said I was sorry."
"Look, no one has beaten Sharpay out for a musical since kindergarten." Taylor informed the twins, causing Gabriella to look at Taylor in shock while Isabella just continued to worry.
"I wasn't trying to beat anyone out." Isabella exclaimed. "We didn't even audition, we were just singing."
"I know we just moved here, but even I know that you won't convince Sharpay of that." Gabriella told her twin sadly, causing Isabella to sigh sadly.
"I'm telling you, if that girl could figure out a way to play both Romeo and Juliet, her own brother would be aced out of a job." Taylor said with a smirk, causing Isabella to sigh.
"I told you, it just happened, but I liked it. A lot." Isabella said with a small smile, causing Taylor and Gabriella to look at her with fond smiles "Did you ever feel like there's this whole other person inside of you just looking for a way to come out?"
"Not really, no." Taylor said after pretending to think about it, while Gabriella just shook her head. The three girls looked at each other, smiled, and chuckled when all of a sudden the school bell rang, causing Taylor to gasp. "Let's go."
