The morning of the talent show, Troy went to where they were holding the show to tell Sharpay that he wasn't going to perform with her. After he told her his plan, Sharpay let out a large shriek, one that could be heard throughout the whole club, causing Troy to flinch in shock.

"What do you mean you're not doing the show?" Sharpay asked in shock as she walked down the stairs to the stage so she could get closer to Troy.

"Exactly that." Troy shrugged his shoulders.

"We're singing a duet, Troy! A duet means two people." Sharpay told Troy as if he didn't know what that word means. "Well, mostly me in this case, but whatever! A duet!"

"I'm an employee." Troy reminded Sharpay with a smirk. "Employees aren't allowed in the show."

"No, no, no, no. No, no." Sharpay rushed out as she stepped off the stairs and grabbed Troy by the shoulders, not realizing that Kelsi walked onto the stage, pausing so that she could eavesdrop on the conversation. "You're an honorary member."

"Not any more." Troy informed Sharpay. "I asked Fulton for my kitchen job back."

"What?" Sharpay breathed out in shock.

"Sharpay, I don't like the way you've been treating my friends." Troy told Sharpay seriously. "And I don't like the way I've been treating them either, so I'm doing something about it."

"An entire table of University boosters are coming to see you, thanks to me." Sharpay reminded Troy as she gestured to the table that was reserved for them.

"So, I'll be their waiter." Troy said with a small smile. "They'll be thrilled."

"Troy, Troy." Sharpay cut Troy off frantically. "This could change your life!"

"I'm more interested about what my friends think of me, and what I think of myself." Troy informed Sharpay seriously as he lost his smile.

"Oh, we could all hold hands around the campfire some other time!" Sharpay snapped as she grabbed Troy's wrist and started to lead him to the stage. "Right now we've got a show to do."

"No. You've got a show to do." Troy said as he shrugged Sharpay off. "I got a kitchen to clean."

Troy walked off with a smirk as Sharpay stormed off, telling Kelsi to find Ryan. Kelsi smiled to herself and grabbed one of the songs that she already had written for Troy and Isabella before rushing off the stage to go find Ryan. They quickly met up with the others and came up with a plan for the performance later that night.

After coming up with a plan, and since none of the Wildcats could leave the club because they had to work and Kelsi had to put some touches on the final arrangements, Ryan volunteered to go to Isabella's house to tell her what happened and tried to get her on board with the plan.
