A couple of days after Isabella put an end to what she and Troy were doing, Troy entered the cafeteria with a bagged lunch and milk carton. As he walked he flipped the milk carton in his hand before he and Isabella, who carried a food tray, crossed paths. They both smiled at each other softly.

"Oh hey..." Taylor called out from the table she was sitting at when she noticed Isabella. Isabella just shook her head and walked away from Troy and over to where Gabriella was sitting with a couple of her new friends. Troy looked at her sadly before sighing and walked over to the stairs and started to walk up them.

"Troy, hey." Chad called out hopefully while holding up his hand. Troy just shook his head faintly and walked out of the cafeteria. Chad and Taylor looked at their best friends before they got up from their tables and met each other in the middle with guilty expressions.

After leaving the cafeteria, Troy went up to his hiding spot on the science roof and was just sitting alone on a bench when Chad, Zeke, and Jason climbed up the stairs and hesitantly approached him.

"Hey, um, we just had another team meeting." Chad spoke up hesitantly, causing Troy to turn his head to look at the three guys.

"Oh, wonderful." Troy said sarcastically while nodding his head.

"We had a team meeting about how we haven't been acting like a team." Chad said as he gestured between him, Zeke and Jason, causing Zeke and Jason to nod their heads. "I mean us, not you. Look, about the singing thing, we-"

"Look, dude, I don't even wanna talk about it." Troy cut Chad off while shaking his head a little.

"We just want you to know we're gonna be there." Chad told Troy seriously. "Okay, cheering for you."

"Huh?" Troy asked in confusion.

"Yeah, if singing is something you wanna do, we should be boosting you up, not tearing you down." Zeke said sincerely, causing Chad and Jason to nod in agreement.

"Yeah, I mean, win or lose, we're teammates. That's what we're about." Chad reminded Troy before jokingly punching Troy in the shoulder. "Even if you turn out to be the worst singer in the world."

"Which, you know, we don't know because we haven't actually heard you sing." Jason smiled, causing Zeke and Chad to nod in agreement.

"And you're not gonna hear me sing, guys. 'Cause Isabella won't even talk to me... and I don't know why." Troy told his friends sadly before looking away from them, causing them to get guilty expressions on their faces.

"We do." Chad sighed, causing Troy to look at the three in confusion as Zeke opened his lunch box and pulled out some baked goods and handed them to Troy.

"I baked these fresh today. You probably want to try one before we tell you the rest." Zeke told Troy with a hesitant smile.

As the three boys told Troy just exactly what they did, Isabella was in the chemistry classroom in front of the chalkboard while working on an equation. Isabella had paused to look at a textbook when Taylor and the rest of the scholastic decathlon team walked up to her.
