~oh my biology~

Isha's POV

The school hallway echoed with the usual pre-class chatter as I strolled in, greeting familiar faces along the way. Maitri and I huddled by our desks, our conversation flitting from the latest celebrity gossip to last night's questionable fashion choices on the red carpet.

Suddenly, a chorus of shrieks pierced the air. Heart pounding, I whipped around, expecting some monstrous apparition straight out of "The Nun 2." Relief washed over me as I saw the grinning faces of Rishi, Viraj, and Daksh, the resident class clowns.

"You guys!" I swatted Rishi's arm playfully, scolding them for nearly scaring me into cardiac arrest. "seeing the nun 2 last night isn't helping with you guys pranking around me!"

They erupted in laughter, the sound infectious. Rishi and Viraj, however, quickly sobered up.

"Wait," Rishi frowned. "Weren't we supposed to be watching it together?"

Viraj echoed his disappointment. "Yeah, Ish, I thought we had movie night planned."

A pang of guilt hit me.  I thought I'll just have a little peak and ended up watching the entire thing . I'd gotten so caught up with the plot that the movie night completely slipped my mind. I launched into a flurry of apologies, promising to make it up to them with movie marathons, endless pizza nights – whatever it took.

The classroom gradually filled, the usual pre-class drama unfolding. Rashmi and Dikshit, the sibling enemies, shot envious glances our way. We paid them no mind, our laughter bubbling beneath the surface.

Mrs. Shyla, our ever-patient biology teacher, entered the classroom with a bright smile. The moment she announced today's topic – human reproduction – I choked on my water, a fit of coughing erupting from me. Mrs. Shyla's concerned gaze landed on me.

"Are you alright, Isha?" she inquired.

I managed a thumbs-up, cheeks burning. The rest of the lesson was a blur of note-taking and whispered jokes with Rishi and Viraj. During the final minutes, Mrs. Shyla emphasized her open-door policy, encouraging us to ask questions no matter how big or small.

A series of hushed murmurs broke out behind me. A quick glance revealed the source of the commotion – Rishi and Viraj, their faces contorted in a silent conversation. Mrs Shyla's sharp eyes caught them mid-whisper.

"Boys, it seems you have something important to share with the class," she said, her voice laced with amusement. "Why don't you enlighten us all?"

Rishi and Viraj exchanged panicked looks. Rishi mumbled a quick apology, promising not to repeat the offence. Viraj, however, remained defiant, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, Rishi shot out a hand, effectively shutting him up.

Their struggle was silent, but oh so entertaining. I stifled a giggle, my gaze fixed on Rishi's shoulder as he wrestled with Viraj's runaway mouth. From the corner of my eye, I could see Mrs Shyla struggling to maintain a serious expression, her lips twitching in amusement.

Mrs Shyla asked Viraj to ask his doubts or whatever he had to say to the class. Slowly Rishi removed his palm from Viraj's mouth and had his head hung low but he was controlling his laughter and I could hear it because I was sitting in front of him.

Viraj mumbled a question about the formation of twins. now it was the entire class's turn to control their laughter. All the students looked at the teacher trying their best to look normal but the way Viraj asked and the question made it all the more hard. The entire class, including Mrs. Shyla, burst into laughter. Rishi was doubling over, Maitri was slapping her knee, Daksh let out a snort, I giggled and Trish was adjusting her glasses trying to look serious but failed miserably.

This was just another ordinary Tuesday in our 10th-grade world – filled with pranks, friendship, and the occasional biology lesson that left us blushing and giggling.
