~Seriously Rashmi?~
Isha's POV
The days had flown by in a blur. The bond between our friends had grown stronger, a fortress against the constant taunts from Rashmi and her brother. They were like flies buzzing around us, irritating but harmless, so we swatted them away each time.
As I strolled down the corridor, I greeted Ms.Anuradha, my math teacher with a smile. Entering the classroom, I settled into my seat and launched into a lively conversation with Daksh and Aditya( my other classmate ) about World War I. Daksh and I were the only ones from our group present when Rashmi sauntered over, her eyes gleaming with malice.
"How many boys do you even hang out with, you...?" Her question, laced with venom, hung in the air. A jolt of shock ran through me, my breath catching in my throat.
Before I could respond, she leaned in, her voice dripping with disdain. "What's your secret? What do you do to attract all these boys?"
'How dare she?' I fumed, my anger warring with the sudden urge to melt into the floor. Just as I hung my head low, a resounding slap echoed through the room.
I snapped my head up, my eyes widening in disbelief. Rishi stood before Rashmi, his face contorted in a mask of fury. His eyes, usually warm and friendly, were now dark and stormy. "Not. A.Single. Word. Against. Her! " he roared, his voice laced with a dangerous edge. he then told "you don't even get the right to speak about her like this rashmi . first think about yourself and then talk about others "
Rashmi, hand flying to her stinging cheek, sputtered in outrage. "This is all your fault!" she shrieked, raising her hand in a threatening gesture.
Before her hand could connect, a firm grip clamped down on her wrist. It was Ms. Kalyani, her gaze stern. "My office. Now," she commanded, her voice leaving no room for argument. With a withering look at all five of us, she swept out of the classroom.
"Wow, she looks mad," I whispered, following the others down the corridor.
Suddenly, a hand tugged on my blazer. Turning, I found Rishi at my side. "Are you okay?" he asked softly, his concern evident in his voice. "That little... she doesn't know what she's talking about. I saw the hurt in your eyes when she insulted you. You know I'm always here for you, Ish."
His gentle words and the unexpected privacy of the empty corridor were too much to bear. The tears I'd been holding back finally spilled over. Without a word, I threw my arms around his neck, burying my face in his shoulder and letting out a torrent of sobs.
He held me close, his hand patting my back in a soothing rhythm. "Hey, Ish, shh," he murmured. "Calm down, da."
We stood there for a moment, a silent world of comfort amidst the chaos of the day. Finally, pulling back, he gently wiped the tears from my cheeks. "This isn't the Ish I know," he said, a playful glint returning to his eyes. "The Ish I know is kind, funny, strong, and fierce. The one who puts people like Rashmi in their place. Now, can I please have my Ish back?" he asked with a wink.
A watery smile touched my lips. Taking a deep breath, I straightened my shoulders. "you are right. I'm Isha and Rashmi doesn't define me."
He grinned a genuine smile that reached his eyes. "That's the spirit!"I walked in confidently towards miss kalyani's office and explained her everything that happened in the most polite way possible . after hearing the repeated offences rashmi had caused in this year miss kalyani stood up and took me and Rashmi to Mr desai's office. And guess what the outcome is? Rashmi has been suspended.
We left the pricipal's office and I excused myself and went to the washroom. I did a lil dance in the washroom as I wont be seeing that evil rashmi's face anymore. i too left for my classes and the day blurred past me.
