~Dance ~

Home alone for a week? With only Rishi for a company? Talk about a curveball! Apparently, studying wasn't high on the agenda for our parents on this trip. They ditched us for France – a "business trip" that morphed into a "family vacation" that somehow didn't include me and Rishi. Not exactly thrilled, but hey, who knows what kind of adventures this unexpected turn of events might bring?

First things first: Padma Aunty. A quick briefing (and a shameless plea for extra snacks) later, I was out the door and on my way to dance practice. Tonight was all about pure, unadulterated movement. After a few stretches to warm up, I was ready to unleash my inner dancing queen.

Trisha and Maitri were running fashionably late, so I didn't wait. With the phone connected to the speaker, I filled the studio with the infectious beats of "Top Lessi Poddhi." Classic mass songs followed each one a pulse-pounding anthem that had my feet itching to move. "Pulsar Bike" provided the perfect energetic finale, leaving me exhilarated and ready to tackle whatever choreography awaited.

The practice with the girls flew by in a blur of movement and laughter. By 7 pm, I was spent but grinning. Reaching for my phone, I dialed Ravi Uncle, expecting him to be our chariot home. But his news threw a wrench into the plan: his pregnant daughter was in labor! Without missing a beat, I told him to focus on his family – I'd find a way back.

The other drivers' numbers? Of course I never needed one cause ravi uncle was always there. Bothering my parents on their vacation for a simple detail like a phone number? Not happening. Independent and resourceful, I was determined to figure this out myself.

having no other options I dialled a number , and a familiar ringtone echoed behind me. A playful grin spread across my face as I spun around, only to have a hand land playfully over my shoulder. "Vanda yelu ra neeku!" I exclaimed, recognizing Rishi instantly. "Looks like I don't need to call you after all!"

Relief washed over me as I saw Rishi standing there, a hint of concern etched on his face. "What are you doing here?" I blurted out, surprised to see him.

He gave me a reassuring smile. "It was getting late, and you weren't home. Padma Aunty told me you were at dance practice, so I called Ravi Uncle. He told me about his daughter and that you were stuck here."

I mumbled a response, a mix of gratitude and amusement swirling within me. "Well, since you're here," I said, a mischievous glint in my eye, "we could practice for a while. You love to dance, I know it, even if you always prioritize studies."

Before he could protest, I grabbed his arm, my touch sending a jolt through me, I couldn't explain. "Come on, I'll show you!" I exclaimed, pulling him into the familiar space of the dance studio.

With a playful grin, I connected my phone to the speaker and let loose. The vibrant notes of "Jala Jala Jalapaatham Nuvvu" filled the room, and I launched into the choreography, a newfound energy coursing through me. Rishi, hesitant at first, soon followed suit, his movements surprisingly fluid and graceful.

It was the best dance I'd ever had. Every time our bodies brushed, a spark ignited between us. Every time our eyes met, my heart did a little flip. The final pose, where he was supposed to kneel and I to sit on his lap, felt charged with unspoken emotions. We froze, the music fading into the background, the only sound our ragged breaths. Our eyes held each other captive, a silent conversation passing between us.

Just as the moment threatened to shatter, the door creaked open, and Sushmitha, our ever-observant instructor, barged in. Her eyes widened at the sight of us, then darted away in what seemed like practised nonchalance.

"Oh, I'm sorry," she stammered, "I guess I interrupted something. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know, Isha, that the studio closes at 8:00, and I need you to leave."

Flustered, I scrambled to my feet. "Yeah, alright, Sushmitha," I stammered, "and you didn't walk in on anything! We were just dancing, and that was our final pose."

Sushmitha offered a skeptical hum, then beat a hasty retreat, leaving us alone in the charged silence.

God, it was so embarrassing now. I just grabbed my phone and bag and dashed out of the room, my cheeks burning with mortification. As I ran, I could still feel the intensity of that charged moment lingering, making my heart race even faster.

'What is happening to me?' I thought, and then corrected myself, 'What is happening to me around Rishi?' I corrected myself again and thought, 'What are you doing to me, Rishi?' As I hurried down the hallway, my mind was a whirlwind of confusion and emotions.
