~Spark part 2 ~
Isha's POV
The day of SPARK finally dawned a vibrant culmination of months of preparation. Backstage, a kaleidoscope of colours swirled as students buzzed with nervous energy, all eager to showcase their talents. We, the tenth graders, were the tenth act, and our performance was a medley of high-octane dance numbers. Clad in our costumes, a mix of vibrant hues and traditional elegance, we huddled together, a sea of excited faces.
The air crackled with anticipation as the emcee's voice boomed through the speakers, announcing our turn. Taking a deep breath, I steeled my nerves. A quick look at Rishi, his own excitement mirroring mine, brought a smile to my face. Together, we stepped onto the stage, the blinding stage lights momentarily washing away the cheering audience.
The music throbbed to life, and we launched into our performance. "Halamithi Habibo" filled the air, our steps precise, our movements synchronized. The energy was electric, the crowd a pulsating wave of color and sound. Each song – "Bullet," "Boss Party," "Odiyamma" – flowed seamlessly into the next, a testament to our weeks of tireless practice. The grand finale, "Kuchi Madathapetti," left us breathless and exhilarated. As the final note faded, the applause roared, a wave of appreciation washing over us.
Exhausted but exhilarated, we took a bow. Backstage, the adrenaline rush subsided, replaced by a wave of exhilaration. "Can you believe we did that?" I exclaimed to Rishi, a triumphant grin splitting my face. His reaction mirrored my own – pure, unadulterated joy. The camaraderie we shared was sweeter than any victory. We rejoined our classmates, exchanging high fives and laughter, the afterglow of a successful performance warming our spirits.
A quick costume change later, and we were ready for our special performance with Ms. Shriya. This time, it was just me, Trisha, Maitri, and our ever-enthusiastic dance teacher. The spotlight found us once more, the music shifting to a medley of popular Tollywood hits – "Oh My Baby," "Saami Saami," "Nee Thone Dance"...each number a celebration of youthful energy and the joy of dance.
The crowd roared its approval as our final act, "Sarang Dariya," drew to a close. With a final bow, we retreated backstage, the adrenaline slowly ebbing away, replaced by a satisfying sense of accomplishment.
Exhaustion gnawed at my stomach, a stark reminder of the past two hours of non-stop dancing. Bidding farewell to my classmates, I headed towards the familiar faces of my family, only to find them deep in conversation with Rishi's parents.
As I approached, Rishi's parents showered me with praise. My parents, beaming with pride, echoed their sentiments. "Don't worry, Rishi Nana," my mom teased, "we haven't forgotten about you. Your performance was fantastic! So many steps to remember – I can't believe you all managed it!"
Rishi then thanked my parents for complimenting him with his famous wide grin.
Rishi rubbed his stomach and in a voice of mock despair asked. "Food first, compliments later," he declared, his voice thick with hunger. "I'm starved!" I joined him "Mee too.."A collective chuckle erupted, the perfect end to a perfect day. SPARK had been a whirlwind of emotions, but ultimately, a day of triumph shared experiences, and the heartwarming comfort of friendship. As we tucked into a well-deserved feast, I couldn't help but steal a glance at Rishi, a silent promise hanging between us – to create more memories like this, together.
