Chapter 15

Matt's P.O.V

That was weird, why did Luz even need to know that? I feel like she could just look at me and know the answer.

I shook my head as I sat on the couch beside Gus. They had put on a horror movie. I've always liked horror movies, so I wasn't too bothered by the scarier scenes, but I could tell Gus wasn't too fond of them. He was biting on the collar of his shirt, sitting with his knees to his chest.

It was during one of the scarier parts, and I was sitting there, wide eyed. I was not expecting that plot twist. A blood curdling scream came from the T.V, ugh, of course my favorite character had to die. I get jerked to the side, being pulled into Gus's grasp.

"What the hell?" I ask, looking up at him, trying not to be loud.

He doesn't respond and just pulls me closer. I sigh, adjusting my positioning in Gus's arms before resuming Watching the movie. I could feel Gus's heavy breathing on the back of My neck, causing my face to heat up. Nice one Matt, way to play it cool.

The movie ends and Gus still hasn't let go of his grip on me. I look up at him, catching him staring down at me with a smile on his face. He looks away quickly, covering his mouth with his hand. I laugh softly before speaking.

"Can you uhm, let go now?" I ask. He looks back down at me in response.

"I- Oh, yeah I guess.." He mutters, loosening his grip and removing his arms from my body. I shuffle off of him quickly, just as Luz turns on the lights.

"So," Luz starts, jumping over the back of the couch and landing beside Amity, "What do you guys wanna do now?"

"I don't know... board games maybe?" Willow proposed.

"I mean, I think it's a good idea. We don't have much better to do." Hunter added. Edric nodded in agreement.

"I agree, Amity, what do you have for board games?" Luz asks, jumping off the couch.

"Uh, we don't have very many, but we dk have monopoly if you guys are okay with that." Amity said.

"Hey uh, mittens?" Emira asked.

"Yeah?"

"Me, Viney, Boscha and Jerbo are going to hang out in my room, okay?"

"Suit yourself." Amity replied as she walked over to a large cabinet, filled with multiple sets of cards and poker chips. At the very bottom of the cabinet was a small stack of dusty boardgames, monopoly sitting on the top. You could see Amity give it a sad smile as she dusted off the box and turned back to face the group.

"Have fun!" Emira yelled as she started sprinting down the hallway with Boscha, Jerbo and Viney walking behind them. Amity shook her head in disapproval as she placed the game in the table and removed the lid.

"First come first serve for the pieces!" Amity exclaimed, grabbing the cat peice and sitting down.

"I CALL DOG PIECE!" Gus yelled, jumping off the couch and running over to the table, snatching the dog piece that Edric was reaching for. Edric pouted, grabbing the moneybag piece instead.

I sighed, walking over to the table where everyone else was. The last peice left was the tophat, which coincidentally was my favorite. I sat down beside Gus as Amity started handing out the starting money.

"FUCK NOT BOARDWALK AGAIN!" Edric groaned. He had landed on it atleast 4 times already. Luz owned it, and it had 2 hotels on it.

Hunter giggled as he took the last of Edrics money off the table in front if him and put gave it to Luz.

"IM RICH!" Luz exclaimed, organizing the massive stacks if cash on her side if the table. She probably had close to 25k in cash and property.

"Ohhkay, anyways," Amity started "It's your turn Matt." I take the dice, swish them around in my hand for a second before releasing. I roll snake eyes. I move my tophat 2 spaces, community chest.

"You won the Beauty pageant, all players owe you $25." I read out loud.

"Seriously? How did YOU win a beauty pageant." Skara snickered. I don't think that she is very fond of me.

Everyone handed me $25 before I rolled again, double 4's. I move 8 spaces, landing on 'just visiting'. I take a deep breath before grabbing the dice again, FUCK, double sixes.

"ughhh, nooo..." I groan, moving my character to Jail. Gus laughed, grabbing the dice from infront of me.

He landed on free parking, winning him the entire pot. He grinned from eat to ear as he collected all of our previous tax dollars and sorted them out into his piles.

"That's so unfair!" Edric groaned "I needed that." Gus stuck his tongue out at Edric before handing the dice to Amity.

She rolled a 7, landing on reading railroad.
"Who owns reading railroad?" She asked, looking around the table at everyone's properties.

"I do!" I exclaim, pointing at my collection of railroads infront of me. "$400 please!"

Amity groaned before reluctantly giving up the money.

As you can imagine, this game went on for awhile. Like a LONG while. By the time we finished it was around 8pm. Who knew monopoly could could last that long. Oh, and just incase you were wondering, yes, Luz did win.

*DING DONG*

"PIZZA!" Edric jumped out of his chair and sprinted toward the door. He came back with 3 large pepperoni pizzas, placing them down on the table beside the monopoly board that was yet to be cleaned up.

"EMIRA! FOODS HERE!" Edric hollered, the sound echoing through the house. Eventually the group came back downstairs.

I grab a plate and go sit down on the couch beside Gus, who had already devoured 2 peices.

"Damn, you were hungry, huh?" I tease, biting into my own slice.

"Yeah whatever." Gus mutters with his mouth full, you could barely tell what was was trying to say. Gus swallow before speaking again "Board games are professional sports with these guys."

"Seemed like it, is Edric always the first to get out?"

"Yeah usually. Either he brutally looses, or wins by like a lot."

Everyone comes and sits back on the couches. We all talk for awhile about random stuff. Before we know it, it's around 11 pm.

"Ah shit," Luz starts "we should probably be getting to bed soon."

"Yeah.." Gus yawns tiredly, getting up off the couch "cmon Matty, I'll show you the room I usually sleep in." He grabs my wrist and starts walking toward the hallway. I look back towards the group, who were now laughing. I shoot Luz a glare and shake my head before facing back the correct way.

We eventually make it to the bedroom. Gus flops himself on the bed, passing out almost immediately. How the fuck is this kid so tired? I shake my head and grab some clothes out if the backpack we brought. I get changed into some shorts and a pink sweater. I sigh, turning off the lights and shutting the door. I crawl into bed beside Gus, who started clinging onto me almost immediately. I smile at him before shutting my eyes and trying to sleep myself.
