Rob's POV

I walked the hallway with Preston, having suddenly been abandoned by Mitch out of nowhere, and now we couldn't find two people.

I was enraged at how quickly Vikk slipped up, and now we don't know where the hell Lachlan is or if he's even remotely okay.

As I pulled Preston along with me, I came up on Vikk and Mitch talking. Mitch looked like he was fuming, but then fear washed over him and he seemed oblivious to Vikk at that moment, saying a last sentence then running out of the doors and not looking back.

I rushed over to Vikk, and I found the boy crying harshly as he noticed us nearing him. I stopped walking; Preston standing beside me.

"Vikk, why would you do that?" I whispered, trying to contain my anger for him at the moment. I was not one for anger, but I was more than mad at this point in time.

He looked scared as his eyes almost pleaded, "The guy was threatening Lachlan, Rob! I tried to stay away from it and ignore his words, but he started calling Lachlan names, and I don't know what happened. All I remember is Lachlan stopping me, and I felt as if the guy planned this all along; for Lachlan to find out and be mad. As Lachlan hugged the guy, he smirked, and I can't remember what happened from there, only that I was shoved into the lockers and left with Lachlan storming away."

Vikk broke down on the ground, crying louder than before, and our eyes widened.

I bent down to his height and hugged him to me, while Preston rubbed his back.

Suddenly, yelling erupted down the corridor, and two guys came bounding over with guns pointed in their hands.

I froze, staring at them as they approached with sick glares, "You're the one who beat me!"

"We don't want any trouble," I tried to calm them, standing up and holding my hands out in front of me, Preston doing the same.

"Vikk's bipolar. He doesn't know what's happening around him sometimes," Preston lied, and I watched them appear to believe it as they hummed and nodded, walking away.

Had we been left of that easy?

Suddenly, they aimed behind them, and the crash of the bullets fired through the air.

As quick as they shot, they were tackled down by teachers, and the guns were removed from their hands.

I sighed in relief, looking over at Preston to see him shaking. I froze, and I watched his skin pale and eyes roll backwards as he collapsed to the floor in a puddle of blood.

I rushed over like my life depended on it, putting pressure to the area of impact, which happened to be his side. The wound would heal and be fine, as it just scraped the skin, but he was losing blood far too fast to be healthy.

My hands were coated in it, painted deep red as I tried to stop the bleeding as it gushed out of the valley in Preston's side on the floor. Vikk raced over to help me, and we stabilized Preston the best we could as we heard approaching sirens and men running over to take over.

As we stood up, watching with fear, I glanced to where Vikk was and saw the ceramic tile shattered and busted from where the second bullet must of been shot.

I watched the men wheel Preston to their vehicle and lift the stretcher inside, closing the doors and rushing off, the sound of the sirens fading in the background.

I grabbed my phone and messaged Mitch quickly, then motioned Vikk to run with me to my car. We got there quickly, impatiently waiting, but it didn't take long for Mitch to come speeding up and jumping out of his car without shutting his door.

"I saw an ambulance. What happened?" He was almost yelling, and he looked at Vikk, then to me. I watched something flood his eyes before he gripped his hair and started crying.

"That was Preston?"

Mitch's POV

Preston was in that ambulance, possibly dying.

I gripped my hair and pulled and yanked, crying loudly as I began to pace.

First, Lachlan disappears and reveals the truth, then Preston gets hurt and took to the hospital.

I start losing myself, pacing faster and gripping harder.

"I need to tell Lachlan," I mumbled, and Rob's eyes widened," Wait, you know where he is?"

I ignored him, texting Lachlan that Preston was going to the hospital, and I still didn't know why or what happened.

My hands began to shake, and almost instantly I was texted back, but I couldn't breathe or answer it.

"Do you know something we don't?" Rob asked slowly, but my pacing only increased. I couldn't text him back, so I dialed his number while trembling and heard him answer quickly.

"Hello? Mitch?" Lachlan came through, and I started crying harder, "What happened?"

I collapsed to the ground, rocking back and forth, "I- We- I don't even know!" I cried, and I heard Lachlan's breath hitched, "I have to go see Preston."

"No! I'll tell you what's happening," I said aloud, but I began to whisper, "Vikk's with us."

It went silent, but Lachlan sighed, "Let me speak to Rob."

I was shocked, but I did as told and held the phone out to Rob, who had an eyebrow raised as he pulled it to his ear.

Rob's POV

"Hello?" I spoke, and I heard someone shift on the other side.

"Look, Rob, what happened?" Lachlan whispered, and I licked my lips, "Vikk told us what really happe-" I was cut off by Lachlan gasping, "Wait, why did he beat him?"

I swallowed and pondered if it were my place to speak, "Wouldn't you rather Vikk tell you?"

I looked beside me to the black haired boy, and he seemed hopeful, but when no voice was heard besides sobbing, I decided I should be the one to spill it, "The guy had been calling you names, and Vikk lost it. He didn't know he had attacked you until he was thrown in the locker."

"I-"

"Preston and I found Vikk crying, and we wanted to know why he had beat that guy, so we asked him. He told us why, but then we heard people running towards us, and they had guns. The guy Vikk beat was one of them," I cut Lachlan off, not wanting him to interrupt, "We tried to tell them Vikk was bipolar to stop them, and we thought they bought it because they began to walk away."

"B-"

I wouldn't let him speak, " They turned around and fired, and I didn't know it had hit him until I turned to see him pale and collapse with blood pooling on the ground from his side. The paramedics took him."

I heard loud sobbing at this point before a strangled voice spoke up, "My entire world is falling!"

The line went dead, and tears fell down my face at the numbness in my chest.

"What happened?" Mitch asked, and I looked at him, " Lachlan said that his entire world was falling."

His eyes widened, and I handed his phone back. He was shaking as he held the device in his hands like it was some disgusting piece of trash.

"You two go check on Preston, okay?" I nodded slowly as I watched Mitch run to his car and speeding off down the road.

I glanced at Vikk to see pain in his eyes, but we got in the car anyways and let the air be drowned in crying as we drove to the hospital.
