Playing BLAME IT ON THE KIDS by AVIVA

You've heard the story before. 'The boy who cried wolf'.

It's something I grew up with. My parents using it as a way to dig out any lie, any guilt that sunk deeper into my skin.

It was a tale every kid heard of at night.

The boy was a liar.

Wolf! Wolf! Wolf! He cried.

The story goes on.

The towns people would take heed to his warnings.

Close the blinds, close the windows, lock the doors.

Keep yourself safe.

And he would laugh.
There was no such things as a wolf.

Nowhere nearby!

Nowhere in sight!

What a silly group of gullible people, he thought.

Framed the people of the town as fools. How embarrassing...

You fools! He'd laugh, his hand on his stomach as he pointed blatant fun at the dumbfounded expressions of the people.

And he would do it again.

And again.

And again.

Wolf!

Wolf!

Wolf!!!

And every time they would fall victim to it.

Close the blinds!Close the windows! Lock the doors!

No wolf.

So sad, they were so mad.

But nothing changed.

Well...

Until an actually Wolf came.

The boy was frightened this time. He rung the town bell! He screamed at the top of his lungs, his laughter ceasing as tears welled up in his eyes.

Wolf!

Wolf!

Wolf!!!

But the towns people were smarter now. Right?
They ignored his warning, going about their day.

That boy is a nuisance! Always causing a racket!

The boy was a fake, why would they believe him this time?

They didn't believe him.
