5th of January, 2022Dear Hazel,
One thing I'll never forget about you is how you never failed to make me proud.
There wasn't a day that would go by where I would doubt your capabilities and skills.
You are the jackpot I never deserved.
A girl so pretty, so beautiful and mindblowingly smart. I must've done a lot of good in my past life to have found you in this one.
I remember the day we went through your college acceptance emails. You were filled with fear, making me open them because you were too anxious to do it yourself.
But I, like always, believed in you.
the curly haired girl barged through lewis' door, making herself at home on his bed, abruptly interrupting lewis and nico's ongoing conversation.
"i think i'm going to pass out." she knew she was being melodramatic, but the fear of failure paralyzed her.
she opened her laptop, handing it to lewis.
he knew today was the day that decided if her dreams would come true or not.
she and nico each gathered beside lewis, scanning the illuminated screen. her inbox was filled with emails from different ivy league universities; but she had her eyes set on one in particular; stanford.
as lewis hovered the cursor over the first email, hazel laid back, covering her face with her hands.
"first up; yale." he whispered, "dear hazel, after careful consideration, we regret to inform you that the admissions committee has decided NOT to offer you admission to yale university for the upcoming academic year."
a frustrated groan escaped her lips, although she wasn't too bothered since she didn't really care about going to yale. it was more of a backup, if anything.
"it's okay, there are are a bunch of others still." lewis attempted to comfort her.
"yeah, it's their loss anyway." nico told her as he threw a french fry in his mouth.
lewis clicked on the next one.
"this one is harvard." he announced, "dear hazel, it is with great pleasure to inform you of your acceptance into the engineering committee at harvard university! we are impressed by your application and believe that you will make significant contributions to our academic community!"
she shot up from her previous laying position in excitement and disbelief.
"oh my god!" she shrieked whereas lewis and nico were busy whooping and cheering for her.
lewis went through the rest.
with one more rejection from oxford university, she was accepted into every other university she applied to. all of which were ivy leagues.
it all came down to the final one. and the one she wanted most, more than anything.
"stanford." lewis breathed out, the sound of the mouse's clicks being the only thing that occupied the silence.
at this point, hazel was up on her feet, her anxiety far too strong for her to sit still.
"dear hazel, we appreciate your patience after we carefully reviewed your application to stanford university." nico read first.
"after much deliberation, we are pleased to inform you that you have been selected for special consideration regarding stanford university!" lewis embraced his girlfriend, spinning her around with a proud smile on his face.
