Dear Hazel,

If only I could go back to the day I first asked you to be my girlfriend.

It was exactly 8 months and 7 days after I first met you.

And yes, I counted the days.

I would've done it exactly on 8 months, but I needed those extra 7 days to plan my surprise and make sure it was perfect for you.

I never told you that, have I?

"mate, calm down! it's gonna be alright." nico tried to calm down his anxious best friend, running up and down the room as he waited for the clock to hit 6. "you love her, she loves you. there's nothing to worry about!"

"it's easy for you to say, mr all the women love me." lewis rolled his eyes at the german.

he chuckled charismatically, "well, it's true. but it's different with you and hazel. i can see the way you look at her and the way she looks at you. i know it sounds so cheesy but you are perfect for each other."

"what if she says no?" lewis groaned, covering his face with his hands in embarrassment.

"i swear i should be getting paid to be your personal therapist." nico huffed in disbelief, "if she says no, i owe you 10 thousand quid. that's how confident i am she's going to say yes."

"at least if i come out this night heartbroken, i'll have enough money to drown my sorrows." lewis shrugged, trying his best to push his doubts aside.

nico threw his car keys his way, "go get her, tiger. i'll make sure everything else is set up and ready to go."

"thanks, nico. i don't know what i'd do without you." lewis expressed his gratitude towards his friend.

"eugh, stop with that sentimental shit and go!" nico pushed him out the door, making hearts with his hands teasingly as he watched lewis pull out of the driveway.

the pounding of his heart felt as though it could tear through his shirt at any moment.

he had the drive to her house memorized like the back of his hand from how many times he'd driven up and down that hill, just to pick her up and drive her around.

it had become sort of a routine that neither of them grew tired of, instead it was something they found comfort in.

hazel hopped into the vintage mercedes car, her usual cheeky smile plastered on her face.

she gave him a sloppy kiss on his lips, "i missed you. where have you been the past week?!"

it was unusual for them to spend days without seeing each other, let alone an entire week.

truthfully, it sent hazel into a spiral of overthinking. she thought she'd done something wrong.

"sorry, i was busy practicing with my dad." he said the first thing that came to mind.

hazel narrowed her eyes at him, she knew he was bluffing. besides the fact that he was a horrible liar, he seemed to forget his father was practically best friends with hers- which explained why he was at their house most of the time.
