THE FIRST FOUR HOURS OF SCHOOL was an okay experience. It's break time and Janelle decided to go check out her room

She followed the signs to the girls side of the dorms. "I am in room 308. Third floor? Great, more stairs" She said to herself

The stairs wasn't that bad. Her eyes followed the bulletin boards where she guesses the resident assistants put up. The theme was something she's never seen before, it's 4 girls with big eyes and big lips

One white blonde, one Asian girl with her black hair, one black girl with brown hair and a tan girl with a mole on her face. "We're the girls with a passion for fashion?" She read the slogan

"Bratz themed! You like it?" A voice said excitedly behind her. Janelle turned her head to see the same girl from earlier

It seems like the girl remembered her too "You're the girl from earlier! The one who kept staring. You're new, aren't you?"

"Uh yeah-" Janelle got cut off by the girl's squeal. "Great! My name is Kyra Allen-Turner, I stay in room 308. I'm like the head honcho here, I take care of the residents of this floor. What's your name?"

This girl is like if a rainbow threw up, she thought. Wait, Kyra? That sounds familiar but why? "I'm Janelle Reyes"

Kyra clapped her hands "I'm your roommate!"

That's why it sounds familiar. "Let me show you to our room. You'll love it" Kyra gently grabs Janelle's hand as they're on their way to their room

Kyra opens the room with her key. It reveals a pink and grey bed set. Janelle noticed it was a bunk bed, Kyra's stuff was on top

Two desks, two closets, and a bathroom. "Nice right? Everything untouched is yours unless you would want to do that whole roomie-best friend thing. By the way, I texted you yesterday but you didn't respond back" Kyra said

Oh right, that. "Oh yeah. Sorry, I was just nervous, you know. First time living alone" Janelle told her. Kyra nodded her head "Oh no sweat. It's always like that but don't worry, I'll be like the sister you never had"

That triggered something in Janelle. Her eyes turned dark "No not like that" She snapped. Kyra is now confused "Oh. My bad."

It's awkward silence. "Anyways, I should probably get going. Don't want to miss my ecology class but you have the room to yourself until 7 so bye"

Kyra left the room in a rush. As soon as she closed the door, Kyra sighed "What did I do wrong?"

She shook it off and continued down the hall and into the common area. On the way down, she ran into her classmate, Miles Morales "Hey Miles!" she says

The tall brownskin showed his teeth "Kyra! Hows life?" He asked. "Pretty good! I just ran into my roommate, the new girl? she's very sweet but she's a bit standoffish" Kyra said

"Oh Janelle? Nah, I bet she's friendly. Maybe you just got bad manners" He laughed. Kyra pushed Miles into his locker "I have great manners. I feel like I can easily get her to like me. Trust and believe"

Miles rolls his eyes "Yeah right. Where is she at anyways? I wanted to give her a big welcome"

"She's in the room. Don't think you can break her before I do" Kyra crossed her arms while traveling backwards "I have my ways" Miles waves her off

As he makes his way to her room, his mom, Rio Morales, texted him. He stuffed his phone back into his pocket "I'll text her on a bit"

Soon, he makes it to Kyra and Janelle's room. He smoothly knocks on the door. Shuffling was heard from inside "Hey, I'm sorry about that, girl. I was-" Janelle opened the door to see a confused Miles

"Last time I checked, I was a boy" He chuckled. "Miles, hey. What's up?" She asks, embarrassed. "Well, I just ran into Kyra downstairs. Seems like you two had a great first meeting" He says. Janelle scratched the back of her head "I feel so bad"

"Nah, I'm sure she's fine. She didn't take it to heart. Oh before I forget, here you go" Miles handed her a small box. Janelle took it curiously, she unravels the box to reveal a picture of a Spider-Man?

"Spider-Man?" She questioned. "Yup. I figured you were secretly a nerd." He smiled. Janelle furrowed her eyebrows in confusion "Your bag. It has a Stark Industries pin on it" He explained. She looked at the picture in shock "There's a Spider-Man here!" She whispered quietly

"What?" He heard her mumble. "I said thank you. And yeah, I love Stark Industries. Pepper Stark is my role model!" She gushes. "Us nerds gotta unite!" He laughed. He checked his phone all of a sudden, it was ringing

Then suddenly, Janelle's watch rang. "I gotta go. But are you doing anything later on?" He asked her. Janelle shook her head "I'm finished for today."

"Bet. Well if you're not too busy, come by the court." Miles started to walk away but soon he turned back around "Oh right. You don't know where that is. Just for the yellow brick road" He smiles as he runs off

Janelle nodded her head, as she closed her door, she realized what he said. She opened the door back up "Not funny, Miles!" She yelled. His laughs were heard down the hall. Closing the door, her watch kept ringing

She hurriedly pressed accept before it went away. A holographic Gwen appeared in her room, she looked pissed. "Gwen, what's wrong?" Janelle asked. "I'll tell you what's wrong. Countless missions Miguel puts me on and I come back to find out that my dearest friend went to school without telling me" Gwen explained

Janelle sucks in her teeth "Yeah. I'm sorry about that. I was just so happy to go back that I didn't think. I'm sorry" She apologized. Gwen's expression softened

"I can't stay mad at you. But I know a certain someone misses you" Gwen hummed. Janelle blushed "I miss him too but he understands that I want to get my education"

"That's good. When can I see you again? I miss my girl" Gwen chuckled

"I'm only a button away, Gwen. It's not like I'm going to forget about you guys and ditch you. Besides, there's another Spider-Man here"

Once Janelle said that, Gwen's face froze. "Gwen? Are you good?" Janelle asked her friend. "Uh yeah. Why? You're thinking about fighting crime?"

"Uh no if there's another Spider-Man, that's literally like someone doing my job for me. Besides, I'm safe here. I have nothing to worry about"

Those words always lead to disaster.
