(A/N: whenever 'Steve's bike' is mentioned in this chapter, the motorbike belonged to Steve but Bucky's using it. Just wanted to say that so there's no confusion 😊)
Bucky's POV:
The engine of Steve's motorbike roars as I speed through the forest, feeling nothing but determination to finish what he started. Multiple HYDRA soldiers chase me along the dirt pathway, firing their guns but only hitting Steve's shield which is clamped to my back. As I turn on the corner, with the soldiers still hot on my tail, I flick a switch which releases a tripwire that sends two soldiers flying off of their bikes.A large trail of fire blasts out from the back of Steve's bike, burning one of the soldiers to his death and leaving his motorbike in a flaming pile on the side. Another soldier's bike crashes into a divot in the ground, sending him flying. I whip my head to the side, only to find two more soldiers driving in the same direction as me. As they roll onto the dirt pathway, I speed up so I'm driving right next to them for a brief moment. I yank out a pin on one of their bikes and dump it over my shoulder. The next thing I know, both of them blow up behind me in a flood of fire and ash.
As I drive closer to the HYDRA base, I instantly notice an unmissable black tank in the centre of the entrance. I take Steve's shield off of my back and perch it onto the front of the bike. The tank begins firing the same bullets that me and Steve were forced to face back on the train. The same bullets that killed him. Each bullet manages to miss me slightly, sending fits of dirt spurting into the air. The tank rolls closer to me. I don't stop driving. I press a button on Steve's bike which fires two bullets at the tank, detonating it instantly.
Steve's bike runs up one of the stone ramps, picking up in speed the higher the ramp takes us. The bike flies off of the edge and dumps its wheels on the ground. Flaming metal and large, black tanks clutter the area. Some of HYDRA's soldiers aim their rifles directly at me. I knock one of them down as I come speeding past. The others try shooting me down but only end up killing each other.
A large, metal door sits at the end of the pathway. 'There's no way that they're going to let me pass.' I think to myself, 'Sorry Steve.' I grab Steve's shield and dive off of his bike, landing on top of one of the many tanks that litter the area. I use the brute force of his shield to knock one of the soldiers off and onto the ground. I somehow manage to land on my feet as another soldier comes jogging towards me. I throw the shield at his chest and catch the shield as it boomerangs back.
Steve's bike, after dismount, continues to hurtle towards the door of the HYDRA base. A sudden force of impact and the bike obliterates before my eyes.
As I block a blast from a soldier's rifle with the shield, I use it to send an uppercut to his chin. Another soldier tries to attack me from behind. I took to the shield once more to disarm him, I instantly knee him in the gut, sending him catapulting backwards into a pile of crates.
I have no choice but to defend myself, for the soldiers are still coming at me like a swarm of bees in all directions.
Out from nowhere, fire blasters, with an intense heat, encase me in a diamond shaped cage with no way of escape. Beads of sweat cascade down to my cheekbones as the flames start to become too much for my skin to bear.
In an instance, the fire disperses, and a fleet of soldiers surround me, rifles all pointing in my direction, like I was a vermin in someone's back yard. This mission has only just begun.
