"Dan what is going on?" I ask my brother, peering at him across the table.

"Nothing. What do you mean? Everything is normal," Dan responds awkwardly.

"Daniel Smyers. I am sitting in McDonald's with my brother at 10:30 at night in a prom dress. Something is going on."

"No, no. Everything is normal. You're sleeping over tonight, right?" he responds nervously.

"Umm, yeah, I guess." I eat a handful of fries. "I still want to know what's going on," I mumble through my mouthful.

He glances down at his watch. "It's time to go," he whispers, running a hand through his hair and pressing his lips together.

Dan and I each stand up. He throws away all of our trash and leads me out to his car. Before starting the car, I see him glance down at his phone and type something. He pulls out of the parking lot and drives back to his hotel room.

I eye him suspiciously as he digs his room key out of his pocket and slides it in the slot, opening the door for me. Immediately after entering the dark room, Dan joins Abby in his bedroom.

The whole hotel room is filled with darkness except for a small yellow light coming from the television receiver.

I feel two strong arms snake around my waist and I smile at the familiarity of them. As if on cue, blue disco ball lights turn on, illuminating the living room with a magical circulation of lighting. Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran begins playing.

The pair of arms firmly grip my hips. I place my hands on his shoulders.

"Shay, what is this?" I ask my boyfriend, smiling up at him. Circular blue lights spin around the room, lighting up his face.

"Since my dad kind of ruined our last prom, I figured I would throw us our own prom," Shay whispers, pressing his lips to my temple.

"This is amazing. You're amazing. I'm so lucky to have you. I can't believe you would do this for me," I say in disbelief.

"I would do anything for you. You're my princess." Shay takes my right hand and lifts our arms up to our sides.

"And you," I start. I intertwine our fingers and begin swaying to the music, my body tightly pressed against his. "Are my prince," I finish.

Shay spins me around and I squeal as I step on his toes. "Wow, you're a great dancer!" Shay jokes. I stomp on his toe angrily.

"YOU'RE MEAN," I exclaim.

"But you love me."

"Mmm, what makes you think that?" I ask, raising my eyebrows.

"Emily Elizabeth Smyers, if you don't love me we have a very serious problem because I love you so much that I actually threw you a freaking prom. So you better love me."

"No, no, I don't think I love you," I say, winking at him. He pretends to be angry.

"Emily Elizabeth Smyers, kiss me right now," Shay demands.

"EW NO!" I shriek.

"Pleeeeaaaaseee," he begs.

I stare at him in an innocent way. "You want a kiss?" I ask in an innocent tone.

"Yes, yes I do," he responds, staring down at me and biting his pink lip in a way that makes me want to slam him against the wall and kiss him right now.

I stand on the tips of my toes and lean in. He tries to press his lips to mine, but I pull away. "Actually, I changed my mind. No kisses for you," I say, smirking and looking up at him.

"You're going to regret that," he growls. His strong arms push me backwards, a wall catching me before I fall.

Shay bites my lip before gently kissing me. He creates a trail of kisses down my face and onto my neck. He brushes my hair out of the way and lightly sucks on the skin of my neck. "I love you," he whispers into my neck. "So much."

He continues kissing my neck. "I-I l-love you t-too," I struggle to get out. It takes everything in me to not moan. "Sh-Shay...baby, stop. I'm not ready," I whisper, blushing with embarrassment.

"Baby, it's okay. Hey, Em, it's okay. Look at me," he responds, holding one of my hands and pressing the other to my cheek. "Let's dance, okay?"

"Okay," I respond, smiling up at him.

Shay and I dance around the room for what feels like hours.

"Shay, I'm tired," I whisper.

"Me too. It's 1:30," he responds. "I don't want to go home. Let's just sleep here," he proposes.

"Okay," I respond, shooting him a concerned glance.

"Just sleep," he clarifies.

"Okay, that sounds good."

"Hey, how we doin' out here?" a shirtless Dan asks, emerging from his room. "I hope you're not pregnant," he says to me, winking.

"OH MY GOD DAN!" I shout.

"I think we're gonna go to bed. Thank you for helping me organize this whole thing," Shay says to Dan.

"You're both sleeping here together in the same bed?" Dan asks suspiciously. "No sex in my hotel room!"

"DAN!" I exclaim.

"Dan, we're not going to have sex," Shay promises.

"Alright, but just remember I can hear through the wall," Dan states, pointing at Shay and me.

"Oh my god, ew. Goodnight, Dan," I say, taking Shay's hand and dragging him towards the bedroom.

"Can I wear one of your shirts?" I ask quietly, shutting the door behind us.

"Absolutely, love," he responds, walking over to where his bag is. He pulls out a huge AC-DC tee shirt and hands it to me, followed by a pair of his boxers.

I watch as Shay removes his tux. He unbuttons his shirt and takes off his pants. He catches me staring at him, causing me to look down and blush.

I quickly slip out of my dress and pull his shirt over my head and his boxers up my legs. I realize he's watched me change and become extremely self-conscious.

I fluff my pillow and cuddle up to Shay. "I love you so much. Thank you for this amazing night," I whisper.

He kisses my lips. "I love you princess."

From the room next to ours, I hear Dan shout, "I BETTER NOT HEAR ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS!"

I smile into Shay's chest and drift off to sleep.
