𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐒 𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 hard for fayebelle to act like there was nothing wrong. before meeting the vks, the only person she had to lie to was herself. now, she had five other people to fake smiles for and sometimes, it got very hard.

today was not much different then the rest of the days. she had gone to class and even gone to a tutoring session for an upcoming test. although she hadn't seen her friends today, it somehow felt like a relief to have nobody to play a part for.

her room was like the other dorms, only a single. after fairy godmother had heard about what happened at the town, she had  decided it was safest for fayebelle to occupy a single.

her bed was pushed against the wall, center in her room accompanied by two dark wood nightstands. while her walls were originally a light shade of beige, they had been covered in every square inch by tapestries, paintings, maps or drawings. she had a small dark wood desk in the corner of the room filled with chemicals and bottles with strange substances and hundreds of books scattered all over the floor. multiple sheets of chemical formulas had been crossed out, some with notes on what to change others with just a large fail written on them.

and it might've been slightly messy, but it was comfortable for fayebelle. and it was on days like this when fayebelle had nothing but love for the comfort of her room.

all day her powers had felt off, and in return, she had felt super anxious. she went through the day avoiding conversation and even debated not going to her tutoring, but her grades won out in the end.

as soon as she stepped foot in her room she had felt her powers release. frost had spread from where she was crumpled in a ball on the floor to every  square inch of her room. the gloves on her hands were itching at her skin and with every passing moment fayebelle had wished so could just crumple up and die.

when she was younger, fayebelle's power was as beautiful as the snow underneath the sun. although she controlled the frost and cold, she was the embodiment of the sun and warmth. her power was the part she loved the most about herself.

━━━━━

a ten year old fayebelle was bouncing excitedly as she readied herself for the trip into town, her father had allowed her to leave the mountain and accompany him into town for business. as a guardian, jack frost constantly dealt with the dealings of little children and their hopes.

while he was busy, faye had made her way across the town. she had a little money saved from doing random chores for allowance and decided it would be fun to buy a new set of arrows for her bow. the ones she had were becoming dull and hardly even pierced through the ice blocks she made.

on the way to the weaponry store, she had encountered a little redheaded girl around the same age she was. the girl was alone and crying behind a shop.

"hello there, my name is fayebelle. are you alright?" the girl had wiped her tears and looked at her through hiccups.

"my name is ana. i'm crying because my friend left to go to auradon and now i have nobody to play with." fayebelle felt terrible for the girl, she knew what it was like to be alone and immediately wanted to help the girl.

"do you want to see a magic trick?" fayebelle had asked. in return, she had received an excited headshake yes and took a deep sigh in. surely making a snowman couldn't be that hard, right?

well, she wasn't wrong... the snowman part came easily. there was a small snowman sitting in the middle of a hot summers day, standing up solely because of the sheer amount of effort fayebelle had put into making sure it stayed alive.

the little girl had instantly cheered up. it didn't matter that she had never seen someone wield magic, her childish delight had removed any sense of fear at the blonde haired girl.

the two had stayed like that for a while, fayebelle making things appear for the little girl and ana playing with the snow and demanding more. however, it was starting to get dark and fayebelle was beginning to get seriously tired. this was a huge exert of power that she wasn't quite used to.

soon enough, the blonde started to get sloppy with her work. the snow dragged on for longer periods of time and she took longer to make the figures. one snowman had turned into two dismembered figures, hardly even men.

through one yawn and one misfire of power, everything started to go downhill. the bolt of frost hadn't formed another pile of snow for ana to jump on, but instead hit her square in the head, causing her to pass out on instinct and fayebelle to drop her snow.

━━━━━

ever since the accident, as her father liked to call it, her magic was no longer her favorite part of herself, but the one she despised the most. she tried everything, countless potions and remedies to get rid of her powers. she had taken countless precautions, including never showing anyone what her frost looked like in fear of hurting them, but nothing stopped them from running wild.

they had a mind of their own, the ice and frost didn't belong to fayebelle, she belonged to them, and she would do anything to get rid of them. to be normal.

to not feel their pressing weight on her chest even for one day.

because if there was one day that she could be normal, if she got a taste of freedom, she would  live her life all in that one day, then go back to her pity.

maybe that was why the isle sounded so enticing, because she could be nobody there. she could disappear and nobody would know. and maybe that's why she jumped at jays offer. she really didn't know..

"fayebelle!" she heard jays voice calling her from behind the doorframe, the rapid knocking continuing.

"faybelle it's important!" that was carlos. what was going on? she had cracked open the door, careful to not let her frost slip out into the hallways, and she was met with two stressed faces. glaring right back at her.

"fayebelle, ben's been captured. bring your bow." and that was all they needed to say.
