"It's the one aspect of the Games I can't help but admire. The victors. To the death."
- Unknown, The Catching Fire
Levi stood still in front of Adira's door. His mind in a haze after recalling the events that took place. A night spent with Adira, a bold move of his when he gave his favorite jacket, a whisper from her, wishing upon a shooting star, did this really happen? To him of all people?
His legs stood still with his unwavering eyes still on the door that Adira closed on him, he was planning to offer some tea but it seemed he was too late. Swallowing the thick saliva that formed at the back of his throat, he walked back to his room and let out a sigh, an untouched pile of paperwork waiting for him at the desk. So much for wanting to spend some time with Adira.
He sat on his wooden chair and combed his hair in stress that now came back to him after stargazing. And even if he wanted to start on the paperwork, his mind was in a whole different area. It made sense to him that Adira hated the hunger games, it was an inescapable doom whether you liked it or not. He really did wonder though, why couldn't she just leave and stop playing?
With the multiple victories under her name it made sense to want to retire but perhaps it had some internal issues considering that she couldn't give an answer. Nonetheless, he wasn't one to pry anyways, if she wanted to share then she would. If not, then that's totally fine with him, it wasn't his life and even he didn't want to share about his past life to anyone.
Letting out a deep sigh, he closed his eyes and decided that he wasn't going anywhere with the state of his mind right now, instead, he crossed his leg one over the other, crossed his arms, and used up this time to get as much sleep as he can on his chair.
—Time Skip—
Levi let out a pained groan from his sleeping position. Looking out the window he was slightly surprised at how much sleep he managed to get. It was 3 hours longer, but that still didn't get rid of the back pain he now had from his sleeping position.
Standing up from his chair, he stretched his body and went to his bathroom to freshen up and change to his work clothes. By the time he left his room to go and have breakfast with the rest of the squad since it was that time of the morning already.
Upon arriving at the dining hall, his squad was already there eating and chatting. Surveying the table, he noticed one person missing and that was Adira. "Why are you not complete?" He asked. Though the squad only gave each other side glances, unsure of what answer to give. "Spit it out." He said sternly.
"Uhm... Captain, we don't really know where she went." Petra was sweating on her seat with the nervous glances she was trying to give him, then again she couldn't even look him straight in the eyes. "What do you mean you don't know where she went?"
"Captain, she wasn't there in her room when I knocked a while ago." Eld replied to his question. "So where else could–" But before he could continue asking the squad, the dining hall doors slammed open with Adira's sweaty face and slightly messy braids. She wasn't wearing the training wear, rather the full black and skin tight outfit everyone saw her in on the day she was captured.
