"The Capitol is crazy, and that's the way they want it. Crazy."
- Katniss Everdeen, Mockingjay
Levi wasn't going to lie if someone were to ask him whether or not he enjoyed going to the ball. With one simple answer, he would immediately say that, no he in fact dreads this very night. His reasoning would be that he grew up in the underground and never cared for fancy celebrations, another would be that everyone was just too intimidated by him and his every present scowl that drove people away from him–though there would be times where women would come close to him, he in fact never batted an eye at them–lastly, it would simply be because of how selfish the people there are. While everyone outside of that very palace was suffering, having nothing to eat, no new clothes, and not knowing whether they would live to see the next day, there were these entitled people.
These entitled people could only think about themselves and their safety, yet they would snarl at the scouts, when the scouts are the very reason why they aren't being surrounded by twice as many titans now–sacrificing their lives for the sake of humanity.
Another small part of why he didn't enjoy this either was because he never had anything to wear. All his clothes were used and covered with fabric pills that made it look unflattering. He only had one suit and he used it for this event specifically every year.
Maybe he was slightly saddened when Adira rejected Erwin's offer, now having Petra as the extra. He wanted someone to stick to because he didn't know what the fuck would he do once he's inside the palace. Though he understood why Adira would say no, letting her make her own decisions because it is her life after all.
Opening his cabinet, he dug around his clothes to reach for the suit he will use. It needs to be dusted and cleaned before later tonight to make it look presentable.
Heading his way to the laundry room, he bumped into Adira leaving her room. Adira made eye contact with him and the suit he was holding. He could see the way she cringed at what he was holding. "Is that really what you're going to wear to the ball?" He looked at his suit and was confused. Was there something wrong with it?
"You can't wear that, it looks so old!" Levi felt offended with her comment. He kissed his lips and clicked his tongue. "This is the only suit I have that looks presentable enough, hell I only bring this out for the ball every year."
He saw her bring her hand to her chin and snap her fingers, as if an idea came to mind. "Ok, you know what you and I will do today? We're going to go shopping." He noticed how her eyes dwindled a different way and her smile grew wider just because of the word shopping. "I can't wait, ok first we change to casual clothing and let's head out of here." She was about to enter her room before Levi placed a hand on her door, preventing her from pushing it shut.
"What do you mean shopping? I do not have the money for that, and I never agreed to it in the first place." Adira slyly smiled at him. "We will find you a better looking suit for the ball, I have enough money to spend on it. Besides, I miss going to the market. Now go change."
