Chapter 17 - It was Just a Dream

"I'm not your boyfriend," says Kyle and then looks down. Confusion must be written all over my face.

What ?! Is he...

"Are you cheating on me or something ? I don't understand. Are you bored of me because ..." Kyle looks up with a pained expression.

"No Autumn, God damn it. I would never cheat on you. I would never get bored of you. It's all because of your fuc.. amnesia," Kyle gets up and starts walking around his room while putting his hand in his hair clearly out of frustration.

"Then help me understand, we could make this work." Tears are threatening to leave my eyes. I sound so desperate.

He takes in a deep breathe and starts talking. "2 years ago I left you and moved to the big apple for no reason. You were devastated and heartbroken and...."

"I get it, just continue," I snap. He gives me an apologetic smile and continues.

"I came back and I said that I'm dating a girl. I only did that to try and make you jealous. That failed miserably, you really moved on. Anyway, I wanted to try and be friends. You did agree though but you still tried to avoid me. I don't blame you though. What I did was very low of me."

"Let me get this straight, so now you're taking advantage of the accident and you're using my amnesia to your own good ?" I say and he nods.

A wave of realization hits me and everything comes back to me flooding me in a deep pool of memories. I put my hands on my head because the information is too much to handle. I grab the painkillers and the glass of water on the table and take them.

A stay quiet waiting for the tablets to kick in. Once they do I look up at Kyle.

"Lucky for you, I'm not going to be a drama girl and kick you out and drown in misery. In fact, I'm going to thank you because I remember everything now." I look at him and see him gulp in fear. His adam apple is bobbing up and down.

Good, he better be scared... I'm so evil.

"Just one question, why ?" I ask really anxious to hear the answer to this small yet very important question.

He takes in another deep breathe and says, " I just wanted another chance."

"I don't mean why you took advantage of me. I mean why did you leave like that ?"

"My brother Cody is why. He decided to drop out of university and head off by himself. I left with my mother since my father gave up on him."

"Oh.... I'm not sound mean or anything, but you didn't come say goodbye." I stare intently in to his green eyes that I fell in love with.

"Okay," I say.

"Okay what ?" He asks hopefully.

"I'll give you another chance. Family is more important so I completely understand." The moment those words come out of my mouth Kyle has me in his arms and kisses my forehead and thanks me.

"By any chance could you drop me off at Starbucks then home?"

"Sure, let me go ask if you're free to go or not," he says with the biggest smile and walks out of the room.

I grab my phone and text Nathan.

A : Hey Nathy, guess who got their memory back ? My break is done, it's time 2 continue planning ur prop..

N: I'm so happy 4 u, did u break up with Kyle since u remember everything ?

A: He admitted everything so I gave him another chance, but as friends. My feelings are pushing me towards someone else...
