Chapter 33 - Unfortunately, Cupid isn't the One Aiming the Bow

A few weeks later...

Whilst walking through the school corridor, I look at the students who take quick glances at me then start whispering not so quietly.

I've only managed to grasp the word 'bet' from their conversations. Must be one of the jocks doing the traditional fall in love bet. I truly feel sorry for the poor girl involved. It's completely and utterly disgusting for a guy to play around with a girl's feelings like that.

But what if he really falls in love with her?

Goodness gracious Autumn, you read too many books..

My thoughts must've carried me away because it causes me to bump into someone. I look at the person in front of me and find a red faced, sweating, pissed off Blake. He pushes past me and walks off. Jeez, what crawled up his arse and died?

Should I follow him? The unrealistic cliché fangirl in me tells me to run after him. On the other hand, the realistic and logical common sense in me tells me to let him cool off.

So I decide to stick with the latter. While thinking about whether to follow him or not, I just realized that I haven't seen Blake since Christmas. After Christmas, he and his family traveled to Australia to visit some relatives living over there.

What a great reunion, I tell myself with sarcasm drawn all over it.

I continue walking to my locker and find Grace and Chase standing next to it with worry carved on their faces.

"Are you guys okay?" I ask once I stop. Grace nods while Chase smirks. "Did you hear about the rumor?" he says as he leans on to my locker.

"I just heard the word bet, but nothing else? Why should I be concerned ?" I playfully push him off my locker then open it to grab my books.

Someone walking in the corridor who must've overhead our conversation mumbles, "because it concerns you."

I stop them and give them the continue talking look and he blurts out everything. "Blake is the one who's doing the bet and you're the toy."

I, Autumn Noelle Carson, might murder someone right now. I slam my locker close causing everyone to stop and stare at me. I don't care if Blake isn't still cooled off, I will confront him right now.

Having a murderous look on my face, I storm past everyone and head in Blake's direction.

He used me for money, for 100$. I do admit that I'm not fully pissed off. He was too perfect for this to be real. At least I found out before it was too late.

I walk out and find him sitting on the bleachers. As I'm walking up to him he looks up and sighs. "You found out about the bet."

"What bet?" I play dumb and hope shines in his eyes. "No, just a silly rumor, nothing at all. How are you Vanilla?" He smiles and that's when my heart shatters into a million pieces.

"Not only do you try to make me fall in love with you for a stupid bet. You also try to hide it from me. Have you ever heard of trust Hunter? And to answer your question, I'm happy because I find out about this. I'm not going to cry or break down and I also don't want us to fight. A relationship can't happen between us. Everything that happened between you and I should be erased from your mind. I like you Blake but I'm afraid not anymore. Thank you for being a part of my life." I walk away before he has the chance to say anything.
