Last night the stranger gave me intimacy. I'm not talking about sex, we got into bed, and he cuddled me. We talked about our feelings and opened about our hopes and dreams. I have not had such since Bongs. I wanted him to water my blossom, but I am grateful for the emotional stability he gave me.
I learned that his love languages are physical touch, words of affirmation and acts of services. I am washing the dishes, Lesedi is on her bike, and he is packing the things we are taking with to his brother's house. I get done and we leave. I am feeling anxious as we wait for the security guards to call the house. He sees my nerves and he kisses my hand.
"They are nice people, don't be anxious. If you get uncomfortable let me know and we will leave." He says and drives to their house. He parks in front of the garage door that's open.
He carries Lesedi on his left and holds me on his right side. "Knock knock hello." He greets.
"Mags, how are you? Beautiful lady, I'm Gugu." The lady introduces.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Refilwe." I greet.
"This is our light. Nkosazana greet aunty." He coaxes Lesedi who tucks her head in his chest.
" She gets a little shy, she will greet soon. Where's your man?" The stranger asks.
"At the back with Ole. Please have a seat, I'll be will you shortly." Gugu.
I take a seat in the lounge. Gugu gives me a glass then she brings juice and wine. Lesedi runs in with a little girl holding her hand, they go upstairs followed by a man, I'm guess is the brother, the stranger behind him. "Cherry yam, are you okay? This is Lindo my brother, bafo this is Refilwe. " The stranger.
"I'm ok thanks, nice to meet you Lindo. Lerumo please check on Lesedi, I don't trust her and water."
"Finally, you use my name." He laughs heading up the stairs.
"What do you call him?" Gugu asks.
"The stranger." We laugh. Lesedi's top is wet from the forearm to the wrists and so are her pants.
"Lesedilamatsha, do you want to go to the naughty corner?" I ask holding her hand. She shakes her head and wiggles out of my hold running to Lerumo crying.
"I will put you both in the naughty corner. Go and take your bag, so that I can change you." Lerumo takes her to the car, Ovayo on their tail.
"You don't look like the strict type." Gugu says.
"Lesedi is so manipulative and silly. Sometimes I must get strict."
Lesedi throws her bag on my feet. Children and testing boundaries are like abafana. I count from 10 backwards to calm myself down. I kneel in front of her. "Lesedi, mama told you not to throw things at me, especially your bag because we have medication inside and if it breaks you will go to the hospital again. Do you want that?" she shakes her head and picks up the bag giving it to me in my hands.
"Sorry mama." Lesedi.
"I forgive you; I am sorry for shouting at you." She gives me a hug; I change her vest and jersey. Lerumo takes the wet clothes outside. I check the medication and it's still fine. The rest of the day, Lesedi is next to Lerumo.
"How long have you been dating Mags?" Gugu.
"Are we dating?" I ask Lerumo whose sitting next to me.
"No, I married you already." Lerumo. We all laugh. Lesedi coughs in her sleep, she is sleeping on Lerumo's chest, she starts wheezing. Lerumo panics getting up with her.
"You okay princess, you okay." Lerumo calms a now crying Lesedi. I get her inhalers out and give them to him.
"Do I just spray her?" He asks panicked.
"Sedi, daddy is giving you Seretide, breathe for him okay." She nods inhaling.
"One last time." She complies. Her breathing steadies and the cough dies down.
"How are you feeling now?"
"Good." Lesedi.
"Should I switch on the nebulizer?" She hates being on it, even when she feels sick, she says she's good. I let her be for now.
"Sleep on daddy Nkosazana." Lerumo.
"Drama, is she okay though?" Gugu.
"Yes, she is, I think the ice cream from last night and the wind today contributed. She has bronchial asthma."
"You mean, she couldn't breathe?" Lindo.
"For now, she was struggling, this wasn't really a big attack. I forgot give her medication last night. Lerumo will put her on the nebulizer before we sleep, akere daddy."
"What do you mean this wasn't big?" Lerumo.
"Bathong, we caught it fast. There's worse days like when you went to CAR, I missed work because I thought we would need to hospital." He looks at me then drinks his juice.
"Daddy was panicking here; he almost ran to the hospital." Lindo laughs.
"Hai Lindo, don't do that to ithemba lam." I stifle a laugh.
We have a round of drinks before we drive back to Lerumo's house. Arriving at the house I make Lesedi cereal and give her a dose of her meds. I connect her nebuliser and Lerumo pours the inhalants. They lie on the bed in his bedroom, he said she can't sleep alone sick. *eye roll.* I take a picture of them to show him how much he fusses over Lesedi, he denied it on our way home. I love it though. She falls asleep almost immediately after the does is finished. Lerumo and I cuddle on the bed.
"Why didn't you tell me the baby was sick?" Lerumo.
"I didn't want you stressing. I would have called had she gotten admitted."
"Am I not your shoulder to cry on?" Lerumo.
"You are."
"It doesn't seem that way. Had I gotten injured in CAR, and I only told you a week later, how would you have felt." Lerumo.
"I am sorry, next time I will inform you, Lesedi is asthmatic and she's allergic to shellfish."
"Thank you for informing me. Do you need a prescription for the nebuliser?" Lerumo
"No, you can buy it at any pharmacy."
"I think we should get one for here." Lerumo.
"Alright, I will buy it when I get paid."
"Hmmm." He says and watches the television, his hand rubbing my thigh occasionally."
