CLARAS POV
Day 5 of OSS
The clock read 8:37 AM which means that I am the only one here. Moms trusted me enough to let me stay home by myself during my OSS instead of both of them taking turns with staying home from work.
I decided to head down stairs and see what mama had left me for breakfast. Usually she fixes me a plate and leaves it in either the microwave, the oven, or the fridge.
Once I got downstairs I checked all three places and found nothing. So I grabbed the milk out of the fridge and some cereal out of the cabinet and poured me a bowl of cereal.
I grabbed my cereal and walked over to the window above the sink. Everyday I look out to see if it is nice enough to eat outside.
The sun was out and I was about to turn to go out back to eat when I noticed both of my moms cars. Both of them should be at work right now.
I sat my bowl of cereal down on the counter and headed upstairs.
I knocked softly on my moms door and heard Stef say,"come in baby," very softly. I pushed the door open and saw mama with her head buried into moms neck with half of her body laying on mom. Mom had her arms wrapped around mama. It looked like mom had been crying.
"Is everything okay?" I asked softly.
"Come here Clar," mom said. She has recently started calling me Clar.
I walked around to Stefs side of the bed and got in next to her.
Mama turned her head to look at me and said,"hey sweetheart," ever so softly.
She looked like a mess and I felt horrible.
I looked at mom concerned.
"Well sweetie," mom started,"a little over a year ago mama and I were trying to have a baby, we found a sperm donor and did, well, everything I guess you could say. Everything was going very well, mama was a couple of months along and out of no where she started to not feel good and after that everything just kind of came spiraling down and a year ago today," mom paused trying not to cry,"we-we um we lost the baby," mama turned and buried her face again and mom kissed her hair a couple of times and rested her head on Lena's.
I felt a tear run down my face. I hate seeing them so sad. Loosing a baby is one of the hardest things to go through. I don't exactly know how to react but I feel like if I just give them both a little extra love it might help.
"Um, have you eaten anything?" I asked them both.
"Actually sweetheart we haven't gotten out of bed yet today," mom said a little embarrassed and I smiled and said,"I will be back in a while! Don't move!" "Okay," mom said with a smile and a slight laugh.
I was about to get out of bed but I leaned over and gave my mom a kiss on the cheek and said,"I love you mom," she smiled and replied,"I love you too Clar," then I leaned over a little more and pushed back some of mamas hair revealing her temple and I placed a soft kiss and whispered,"I love you mama," and she lifted her head and kissed me right next to my ear and whispered back,"I love you more," and I giggled and whispered,"doubt it!" Mama laughed and said,"no it's true!" "Hey now! No secrets!"mom said sounding very offended.
We all laughed and I got up and as I was about to walk out the door I turned to mom and gave her a smirky smile and left.
I went downstairs and made 2 omelets with ham, peppers, cheese, and a little bacon. I also made 2 coffees with our keurig.
I put everything on a tray and carried it upstairs to moms room.
Both of my moms were sat up against the head board hand in hand.
I brought the tray over and sat it across both of their laps.
"Oh no! I forgot forks! I'll be right back!" I said a little embarrassed that I forgot.
"Actually, wait," mama stopped me. She leaned over to the night stand and pulled the drawer out. She pulled out 2 plastic forks and handed one to Stef.
I gave them a very confused look because it's not exactly the most normal thing I've seen,"I don't even want to know," I said.
They both laughed and Lena said,"well sometimes we have a movie night and we sneak some food up and forget to bring silverware so we just keep some up here,"
I smiled and said,"oh," dramatic pause,"okay," and we all giggled a little more.
I went downstairs and grabbed my cereal and we all watched a movie while we ate our breakfast.
