Then Saturday comes.
"How do I look?" Kurt asks his best friends. The two girls still wear comfortable clothes, still having some time until they have to get ready for work. "You look fabulous" Rachel reassures him. "I want you to still be awake when we come home because you have to tell us everything" the latina adds "After all you owe us now that we have to go to work without you".
The doorbell rings and Kurt looks into the mirror one last time before waving his friends goodbye. When he opens the door downstairs his eyes widen at Blaines sight. Black jeans, white polo and a simple yellow bowtie to add some color. "I could've come upstairs you know?" the curly haired man says with a laugh but Kurt shakes his head "My roommates are in their pre work mood". "Don't worry. I'm sure you get to know them soon" he adds and finally greets his date with a hug and a "Hello". "Hi" Blaine greets back.
"I wanted to bring you flowers but I didn't think that they would survive the whole night without water so just pretend that I gave you a beautiful bouquet" Blaine apologizes and Kurt laughs "Okay. Thank you but you didn't had to. Should we go?". "Yes. I'm starving. I was so nervous that I hardly could eat anything but now it's okay. Let's walk. The restaurant isn't far from here" Blaine says.
"As long as it's not the spotlight diner I'm up for it" Kurt says laughing as they walk down the street. "No it's not. You don't like the place where you work? I heard it's not that bad" the other man asks. "It's good but I don't want to meet by boss after rescheduling my shift or have my roommates spy on us while we're on a date" the chestnut haired man laughs. "Oh. That's where you work. Maybe I come visit one day while you work there" Blaine laughs "But no I picked something else so don't worry". "That's good. God, now I'm hungry too" Kurt laughs again and the other man joins.
The restaurant Blaine picked is cute, not too crowded so they can talk and the food is really delicious. The whole time the two men talk about everything and nothing, getting to know each other. Of course they also talk about books and reading because how could they not?
"When did you get into reading?" Kurt asks and the other man answers "High school. I went to a public school but when I transferred to a boarding school with a big library I started reading more. What about you?". "Since forever. My mom always read to me and when I learned how to read we read together. Sure sometimes I had slumps or just lost interest while growing up but it always came back to me. Did you went to school in New York?" Kurt then asks. The curly haired man shakes his head "Westerville". "No way. That's not far from where I grew up" the other man laughs.
"I'm from Lima. I went to William McKinley High School" Kurt laughs. The other man joins him "No way. That's so cool. Have you been in their Glee Club? I'd assume based on what you study". "Yes I was. The Glee Club actually inspired me to follow my dream. Don't tell me you were in a Glee Club too. That would be too much of a coincidence" the chestnut haired man grins. Blaine shakes his head "I wasn't. I was in the book club, who would've thought. But Sebastian was and I watched all of his competitions and as far as I can remember your school was really good".
"Thanks. One of my roommates and my step-brother took the leads pretty often but I had fun and I had my moments as well. Which Glee Club was Sebastian in?" the blue eyed man asks and Blaine tells "The Dalton Academy Warblers". "Stop it! They were really good" Kurt says grinning. Oh how small the world is.
The two talk more and more, not running out of topics. After dessert the two decide that it's time to pay and when the check comes both take their wallet out. "Kurt, I'm paying" Blaine says but the other man shakes his head "It would be a pleasure to pay". "I asked you out, I picked the restaurant, I'm paying" the curly haired man insists.
"Okay but next time is on me" Kurt smiles and puts his wallet away. "Next time? I'd like that" Blaine smiles widely. There will be a next time. "I don't want this evening to end" Kurt admits and the other man agrees "Me neither. How about we take a walk in the park before I bring you home?". "Sure" the chestnut haired man nods and together they stand up and leave.
Outside they only have to walk a minute or two until they reach a little park where they just continue walking the path. It's comfortably silent between them as both walk next to each other. Only after a moment Kurt takes a deep breath before his hand starts to search Blaines. Their fingers tangle but both keep walking, this time with an even bigger smile on their face than before. They don't talk much anymore, rather enjoying the peace but when they talk it's a light conversation.
It's late when Kurt and Blaine reach the loft. "I had a really great evening" Kurt says standing in front of Blaine, their hands still holding the other. "Yeah me too. I'd really like to do this again" the other man agrees. "Same here. But this time I plan something and text you". "Sounds like a plan" Blaine answers.
For a moment it's quiet before Kurt says under his breath "I would really like to kiss you now". On that Blaine could only whisper "Then kiss me". The chestnut haired man smiles at that. He takes a step closer and while one hand still holds Blaines he rests his other hand on Blaines neck to pull his face closer and their lips collide.
Somehow it's no surprise that their lips fit together perfectly. Both melt into the kiss when Blaines tongue plays with Kurts until the two men pull back for air again. "Wow" Blaine mumbles into the silence and makes them both laugh. "I hate to send you away but if you don't go now you'll miss the subway" the chestnut haired man says with a look at the time. "Right" the other man sighs.
"But I'll text you when I have more details about taking you out and we will see each other again as soon as possible" Kurt says. The curly haired man smiles "We're texting non-stop anyway". "True" Kurt laughs and presses his lips on Blaines again, gentler this time, shorter this time. "Text me when you get home" he adds and Blaine nods "I will". He hugs Kurt shortly before realizing that he needs to run if he wants to catch his subway.
When Kurt is upstairs he finds himself being alone. The girls are still at work and to be honest Kurt doesn't know what to do. On one hand he doesn't want to be interrogated about his date by them but on the other hand he really wants to talk to someone. About Blaine. About the date. About holding hands. About the kiss.
About what he feels for Blaine because he definitely feels something. Something strong. More than friends. From the very first moment he saw Blaine when he brought him his bag. Maybe even before? He thought the man reading opposite of him that day in the library was attractive. Turns out he is. The times he were with Blaine he felt warm, fuzzy, happy. Butterflies. Firework.
Blaine: I'm home and tired so I think I'm going to bed now
Kurt: Good to know. I'm getting ready for bed now too but I'll text you tomorrow
Blaine: Looking forward to it. Goodnight Kurt
Kurt: goodnight BlaineKurt can't stop grinning while he gets ready for bed and just before he can go in his room and fall on his bed the door opens and Santana and Rachel come in. No hello, no goodnight or we're back. "Don't you dare go in there Hummel" Santana warns and Rachel says "We want to know everything". Together they pulls him on the couch, not even changing out of their work clothes. Guess the bed has to wait.

Blaine too can't escape his curious best friend that easily. He couldn't stop smiling on his way home. Only when he opens the front door and sees Sebastian waiting for him on the couch like a parent when their kid was out on a party. The smile gets replaced by a confused expression "Why are you still up?". "I waited for you to come home safely. How was it with the gentleman?" the other man asks back.
"Let me get changed quickly and text Kurt that I'm home and then I can tell you. Not too long tho. I'm tired and I have to do some studying tomorrow" the curly haired man answers and leaves a grinning Sebastian behind as he gets his pajamas from his room and gets ready in the bathroom.
"Sooo..." Blaine says when he's comfortable next to his best friend "We kissed". A surprised gasp escapes Sebastians lips but he smirks "One kiss? Who initiated it?". "Twice. Both time Kurt. And we were holding hands, also because of Kurt. But technically I took the first step because I asked him out" Blaine tells, making his friend laugh.
They talk until it's really late and Blaine can hardly keep his eyes open anymore. With a warm feeling in his chest and a smile on his lips Blaine falls asleep.
