*October, Emma's POV*

Freshman year is actually pretty cool. I was released at 1 PM today, which is a good day for starting at 8 AM. Most people take the bus to school but not me, I cycle to school with my brother's bike that he never uses. And it's only a 15 minute cycle anyways.

"Are taking the bus for the first time today?" Somehow I managed to make a friend, her name is Sam. She's my best friend actually even if we've only known each other for like, a month.

"No Sam. From what my brother has told me about school busses, it's hell. And I like my bike."

"I get it, ya know. Sometimes I wish that I lived so close to school like you. The bus actually is hell."

"See! My brother is only half an idiot!" She chuckled

"I gotta go, that bus will gladly leave without me. Have a nice weekend."

"You too Sam, see you on Monday." We hugged before she took off to catch the bus.

My locker is in one of the best spots in the whole school. Each row is 5 lockers stacked ontop of each other. Mine is the highest, and it's dark red. Which I'm very happy about because that's the best color out of all of the lockers.

Lucky for me I'm pretty tall for my age so I can reach it pretty easily. I open my locker and grab my jacket, keys and phone. "Hey Emma." Chris walks over to me and stops right next to my locker. Which is weird because his locker is a few rows down.

"Hey Chris, how are you?" We share a couple of classes, and got forced to sit next to each other because of our names being right behind each other. But that's not in every class though.

"Good, good. So I was wondering if you, uhh, well my father and I have season passes for the Red Sox and he couldn't go to the game tonight so he gave me his ticket to give to someone else. And I was wondering if, ya know? You wanna go to the game with me?"

I had to hold my chuckle from his awkwardness. "As a date?"

"Yeah, as a date."

"Sure! But there is one problem, I don't know much about baseball. You're gonna have to teach me some stuff." His face broke out in a massive smile, like the ones where your jaw start hurting.

"Amazing! Yeah! Don't worry about it, I'll be your baseball teacher. Should we meet up at that McDonalds, we can take the bus to Fenway Park, watch the game and eat at the McDonalds after. Can we meet at 3?"

"Sounds amazing Chris, I'll be there." He nodded, keeping the smile on his face.

"Yeah. Okay. See you later."

"See you later." He walked away, towards his own locker.

I jumped on my bike and cycled away back home. In Rhode Island most people cycled from home to school, sometimes I could even cycle with my friends. That was amazing, and I miss that. Here it's always bus this bus that. And that's boring. I mean, I get to cycle through beautiful areas and let my mind wander free. You can't do that in a rowdy bus.
