*February 1998*

Chris and I have been dating for quite a while now, almost 2 years. The funny thing is that my parents still haven't noticed that I'm dating someone.

I still haven't introduced Chris to them or my brothers too. He asked a couple of times but I told him no with some good reasons. Luckily he understood and stopped asking.

The reasons are mostly because I wanna protect him from the horrors of my family. My parents could tore him a new one or just kick him out and force me to break up with him.

And I wanna protect him from my really protective brothers. Over the last 2 years they have both become giants. Henry already surpassed me in height and Ray, he's already 6'3 and he's 18.

But it has to happen one day. I can't hide him forever. And I don't want to hide him forever, he's the best thing that ever happend to me.

Last month Ray brought a girl over for dinner, Mom and Dad were completely okay with her. So what will be the difference with me and Chris?

I already invited him over. Am I nervous? For sure! My parents only have like, one or two evenings off per week so if one gets fucked up the other is cancelled. If that happens my brothers will kill me.

Now I just gotta break the news to my parents.

My father is in his office doing manager stuff and my mom was just starting to prepare the salmon.

"Mother, can I ask something?" I ask in my stupid polite voice. God when I move out that voice is gonna go in the trash can.

"Of course, Emily." Emily this Emily that. If I hate one thing more than the polite voice, it's being called Emily.

"I invited my boyfriend over for dinner, is that okay?"

"Boyfriend? Emily Alison Macfayden you are 16 years old!" Mom threw the towel she was holding on the counter. "Your father and I never approved of you going around with a boy! I know you had a date when you were 13 but I thought that was nothing."

Ahh, the Red Sox date. Still one of my favorite moments between us.

"Well that turned into something, something great. So is it okay if he comes or not?"

"It's okay, tell him to be here in one hour on the dot."

"Yes, mother." I went upstairs and called Chris.

The doorbell rang. Oh god. The doorbell rang. "You can go get it, Emily." I nodded while smoothing out my dress. Sunday clothes on a Thursday, I hate having to dress up for dinner every evening my parents are home.

I opened the door and Chris was standing there with a bouquet of Dahlias in his hand. "Hey, you look gorgeous." He said with a sweet smile.

"Hey, thank you for the compliment. Uhm, where is your suit?"

"What?"

"Where is your suit?" He came out here in his Red Sox shirt and jeans. Not that he doesn't look good, my god he looks very hot. But here you gotta eat your dinner in a suit.

"Why?"

"We eat dinner in formal clothes, follow me." I sneaked him into Henry's room and handed him a dress shirt and a tie.

"Babe I don't know how to tie a tie." He said while taking off his shirt and putting the dress shirt on.

"Lucky for you I can." I did his tie and smoothe it out. He looks great, great? A fucking mazing. The shirt was a bit too small but I rolled up his cuffs and tucked in his shirt. I matched his jeans with a belt.
