AFTER CHRIS AND MATT STORMED OFF, eliana was on the floor in a puddle of her own tears. she realized way before coming that this wasn't going to be easy. she just hopes that they give her a chance to explain everything.
"i think i'm just going to go home, nick. i knew they weren't going to want to see me. tell them i love them." and with that, eliana walked off. she texted her mom saying she was going home, her mom giving her approval.
when eliana made it home, all she wanted was to disappear. it would have just been a lot easier if she stayed back in spain, feeling like an emotional burden on everyone.
she had always felt like that, really. not just with the triplets but with her mom and family. she was the reason her mom had to leave everything and everyone behind, she always thought it wasn't fair to her.
it had been 2 hours since she left the sturniolo's and she was still in tears. it hurt knowing she had hurt the people she loved, it hurt knowing she caused the pain behind their eyes.
OVER AT THE STURNIOLO HOUSEHOLD, nick had went into each of his brother's rooms, explaining why he lied.
"THERE WAS NO REASON TO LIE, NICK!" chris clapped back at him.
"don't yell at me, chris. i lied because i was the one that saw her first, i wanted an explanation FIRST." nick said, trying to stay calm.
chris' mind was running 100 mph. so many thoughts and feelings were running through him and he wasn't sure what to do. of course after seeing her, he was angry. but he was also upset and disappointed. the love of his life was gone for 2 years and all of a sudden, she was standing in his brother's doorway.
"at least give her a chance to explain, chris."
"give her a chance to explain, matt. please."
"fine."
"whatever."
after getting his brother's to agree, the three of them walked out of the house. they had passed eliana's house thousands of times, each time got a little harder. they honestly thought they'd never get a chance to go inside again.
eliana was finally laying in bed, when she heard a knock at the door. reluctantly, she stood up and went downstairs to open the door. she was faced with each brother. nick who was giving her a smile, chris who couldn't even look her in the face and matt who looked at her face with a look of anger.
"come in." eliana said an opened the door wider for them to each get through. they all headed straight for the living room, eliana continued standing.
"go ahead, eliana. tell them everything you told me." nick said, giving her words of comfort.
and that's what eliana did. she explained everything from the night it happened up until now. including the night she left, her mom destroying her phone, when they got to spain, and the decision to come back. chris and matt were at a loss for words.
matt suddenly got up and eliana was ready for him to just walk out. but he enveloped her into a hug. tears were spilling from her eyes again, feeling like that's all she's been doing.
"i'm sorry that happened to you, ellie. i understand why you had to go. i forgive you." matt said to her, the sincerity shining through his eyes.
"that's more than i deserve."
eliana looked at chris, waiting for him to speak up. all of a sudden, he walked away. "i'll go talk to him." matt said.
"no i will." eliana said, walking in the direction of chris. she saw he was outside on the porch with his head in his hands.
"chris."
chris looked up to see eliana, still not believing this situation was real.
"chris, please talk to me." eliana was practically begging at this point for him to say anything to her.
"what do you want me to say? that i forgive you just because bad shit happened to you? well fine, i fucking forgive you then." chris spat out, anger streaming from his voice.
"you don't get to do that. i was in danger! did you expect me to stay here when someone wanted me dead?" eliana clapped back at him.
"we could've helped! we could've taken a vacation somewhere for a while! not you moving to a different country for 2 years. you know how worried sick i was? i went to your house the next day since you didn't show up to school and there was no answer. i texted you and my messages went undelivered. i went home in tears, eliana."
"a vacation wasn't going to help, chris! i had to be somewhere far away from here. my life is probably still in danger for all i fucking know. listen, i'm sorry i put you through pain and heartbreak but it was safer for me to be away from everyone." eliana said, trying to settle down the angry mood surrounding them.
"i understand you're sorry but i need time, eliana."
"and i'll give you all the time you need."
