The darkness of the night came flooding back to Shaine as Niamh began to tremble, forming a lasso from magic as Kinetic cracked his neck, rolling it from side to side. Far off in the distance, the sound of lightning striking something could be heard, along with a cry that was meant for the ears of a goddess alone. Wraith relaxed, the horror of Kinetic overpowered by a cold certainty. Many a God of Speed had fallen before, but the fact that Wraith was merely a shadow now, possessing a human vessel, and not an inter dimensional bounty hunter born from The One Above's plan to protect time. Kinetic, sensing a moment of weakness, dashed into Spirit, wicked blades easily breaking through the magical defences. His wicked blade attached to his elbow seemed to glow as it was poised to strike the finishing blow, but Wraith blocked it, bringing up a shield formed from the shadows of the dark city. Kinetic was unperturbed by the gesture, moving away quickly to reassess the situation,
"Where is Draedon?" Shaine asked, trying to get an idea of the situation,
"Who the hell is Draedon?" Spirit gasped, the assault having broken concentration and stamina alike, "and what is up with those shadows?"
"You know Lochlan, Lochlan Deep?" Shaine asked again, "and how he was with you at the explosion?"
"No," Spirit replied, "he moved away just before the trip,"
Shaine realised that the failure of Lochlan's powers to manifest had probably changed the course of time as they knew it,
"What about Kaedan and Hannah?"
"They're dead," Spirit glared, "Why are you asking me such strange questions?"
"My timeline is different to yours," Wraith explained, "but before I figure out how to go back, I've gotta deal with Kinetic,"
During this conversation, Kinetic had been conversing over a phone, but now, he crushed it underfoot, before dashing behind Spirit. Wraith realised that there was only one thing to do, one thing that could possibly slow down the Speed God,
"Back off, Riley!"
Kinetic froze, and for a second, Wraith noticed an opening, tying Kinetic up with a lasso in the span of a second. The monster struggled, an inhuman roar exiting his mask, but Wraith punched him in the face, a gauntlet of heavy shadow crushing the armour around his head. Kinetic slumped to the ground, the armour itself preventing him from regenerating his brain, and keeping him from getting back up. Spirit gasped in awe of Shaine's newfound power,
"That was cool!"
"I forgot how hopeful we were as children," Shaine laughed, dispersing the shadows, "now you should take away his powers. Go ahead,"
"How do I do that?" Spirit asked,
"You're joking, right?"
Suddenly, a shadow blotted out the moon. Before she could react, bullets peppered Spirit, blood trickling from wounds to the head and chest, before she dropped to the floor, dead instantly. Wraith stared up, but was caught by a kick to the face, one that barely caused it to stumble, but an attack nonetheless. Standing before her was a man, clad in the metal Nighthawk suit. Jones Blakk had come to Kinetic's aid.
Spirit had only begun to comprehend the ability of the man in the gold armour when something else clicked,
"Where did Shaine go?" she thought aloud,
"I'm right here,"
"Not you, idiot, the other one!"
They began to run quickly, calling out into the night, but before long, they came face to face with Greiger, who was even more menacing than he had been, now he was built up of metal. Greiger did not speak, merely lashing out at Spirit, who effortlessly stopped time, walking up to Greiger quickly, a spinning saw of energy ready to slice him in two. Just as she reached the cyborg, Spirit made out a glimmer from the corner of her eye,
