"Xavier."
I repeated again, hugging him even tighter. His cool hands stroked my hair and back slowly, comfortingly, while I tried to make sure it wasn't a dream. That this is not the last grain of my subconsciousness, which the body clings to, enduring the desecration.
"Can you walk? It would be a good idea to get out of here."
Cvampire spoke after a while. I nodded and, still hiding my face in his chest, turned my head slightly to the side so I could look around from my safe spot. If before the room was bloody from the fight between me and the other kitsune, now it looked like the room was simply painted red. "Jasper?"
I asked when I couldn't see his body.
"Who? Kitsune ran out the doors as soon as he got the chance."
Xavier snorted, looking only at me. I didn't understand if his words made me feel better, but I didn't want to dwell on it. He urged me to go, but when he realized how badly I was limping, he simply lifted me off the ground and, trying not to hit any frames or walls, carried me out of the room. I tried to only focus my sight on him as every now and then he stepped over a larger obstacle, which I guessed, since I didn't want to see, was someone's body. Everywhere we walked reeked of unwashed fur, and I realized that my understanding of what was going on here was not entirely accurate. We weren't kidnapped by some three stupid werewolves. This was a little more serious.
"You're healing very slowly."
The vampire noticed, scanning me over from head to toe.
"Kitsune's claw scratches are very difficult to heal." I reminded.
His eyes darkened for a moment and I buried my face in his chest again. I felt fear enough for a lifetime and even though he was the best thing that could have happened in my life now, the vampiric features had been a fear of my kind since I was young.
"I hope the other one looks worse." He gritted his teeth again and finally we ended up outside.
I don't know why I imagined Xavier heroically taking over the entire building by himself to save me, but there were many more supers outside, not that I had the strength or inclination to count. To be honest, I didn't understand at all how Xavier ended up here. Was he looking for me, or was this an unexpected coincidence? I wanted to ask, but as the car started rolling, I felt his cool embrace completely lull me and I fell into a peaceful sleep.<...>
"Okay, please don't be angry, but I couldn't help it." I heard Xavier's voice justifying himself, as soon as I woke up.
There was no pain in any part of my body and felt like I could go dancing or doing acrobatics. Rested and recovered, it took only a second for my body to come together and I shot out of bed like a bullet, flailing my arms.
"What the hell? No, take it back. I don't want to. Why?!" Like a small child I began stomping in bed.
I'll admit, Xavier's laugh warmed me inside, but I was too furious. After all, I wasn't dying, why was he feeding me his blood?!
"You were just all... well, you know, hurt. And bloody. A pitiful sight. I just wanted to help you."
He spread his arms to the sides as if in defense, still sitting in the chair by the bed."You knew I wouldn't like it and you did it anyway. You completely ignored my feelings." I quivered my lip, surprising even myself by my emotionality.
"You did the same for me."
The vampire narrowed his eyes, waving his hand to the corner of the room, where many empty blood bags were strewn about. "Although you had completely abandoned me recently."Did I hear a hint of accusation in his voice? I raised an eyebrow, my eyes darting from the blood bags to the vampire, not understanding why was he keeping them here.
"They smell delicious." As if he understood what I was asking without words, answered.
"Ah, my blood containers serve as an air freshener for the house. Great."
I nodded, now rolling off the bed so that he was on the other side of it. I could see that he was suppressing a smile, so he hid it under clenched fingers. I didn't know how much of blood he gave me, but I felt so energetic that I wanted to climb walls. And since I was now filled with anger and all this energy, I couldn't decide what to break first.
