Xavier stopped pressuring me to talk in the cafe, and I didn't bother myself. I already felt like I had said too much, and my chest was filled with guilt. We ate without talking (more precisely, I ate, and he kept asking me to describe the taste), and then we returned home in one car. When the car stopped outside, someone rustled at the door, so I took my time getting out of the car before Xavi did. A dark figure came up to him with something in his hands, and when I got out, he put his hands behind his back.

"Catherine, please go home." My vampire said in a somewhat confused voice.

I looked at the other person and shivers ran down my spine. It was the same vampire that knew about my mother. I didn't even notice how my legs took me home. I slammed the door loudly and immediately went up the stairs to the second floor, locking myself in Xavier's room, somehow feeling safer there than in my own. I was practically counting the seconds until I heard the door of the house open and thumps, indicating that someone was approaching my location. Xavier opened the door with some kind of paper in his hands and his expression said he was confused as hell.

In fact, it was the first time I'd seen him look like that, so I jumped up from the bed and walked over to him, intending to ask what was going on.

"No. Don't come closer." He held out a finger in front of me, gripping the paper in his hand tighter with his other hand.

When he walked into the room, I stepped back so I wouldn't be any closer than I was before, and he closed the door behind him without saying anything.

"Xavier?" I asked, while he went into the bathroom. Instead I only heard the sound of breaking glass. "Xavier?!"

I heard him shouting and breaking everything, but my legs wouldn't let me go to him. And would I really have wanted to be next to him when he that furious?

A feeling of hopelessness came over me again, but I didn't give in to it when I heard another footsteps below. Glancing once more at the closed bathroom door, I stepped out into the hallway and saw a vampire standing at the bottom of the stairs.

"Did he tell you yet?" He asked with an unreadable smile on his face.

"Tell me what? What did you tell him?" I frowned as I remained standing upstairs.

"Oh, no, this is his business. He will tell you himself. But I can tell from the sounds that it's going to be fun."

"Then you have nothing to do here. Get lost." I stomped my foot, turning my ear back because I caught the sound of the door opening behind me.

As Xavier approached, the legs automatically began to climb down the steps and maintain the distance he had previously demanded.

"The kitsune told you to leave, Edgar." An angry voice growled.

"Well, call me when you decide what you'll want to do." He said and disappeared through the front door.

I followed him with my eyes,my feet carrying me down the stairs to the first floor. I then turned back to keep Xavier's eyes on me when I tripped over something on the stairs and slammed my butt onto the ground, falling down several stairs down. He looked at me wide-eyed for a moment before muttering that it was okay and came over to help me up.

"I know I shouldn't pry my nose into other people's business, but..."

"You're pregnant." He coldly interrupted my sentence, letting go of my hand as soon as I regained my balance.

"What are you talking about?" I snorted, unable to believe such nonsense.

He pulled a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to me. I looked over it, but understood nothing.
