Although initially reluctant, Anko had begun to narrate the details of everything that happened so far.

Since the other party already knew who Tengen was, Konohas involvement in this matter could no longer be hidden.

Miku claimed to never having met her before, which could only mean one thing, the person that had come to ask them for help was the real Miku!

The more she explained the clearer her mind became, this led to the truth being unravelled and all the odd instances that she previously couldn't notice became as bright as day

For instance, after losing the person that tailed them, she went to Tengen’s stall.

This might not sound bad but when you consider the fact that–

1. going there only risked the chance of their cooperation being exposed
2. It offered no benefits whatsoever

–the abnormalities become increasingly obvious.

Even after a serious matter like being stalked in enemy territory, she didn’t analyse or try to come up with any contingency plans. It all just managed to slip through her mind.

When ‘Miku’ had arrived at her doorsteps she had initially felt guarded but that feeling slowly and inexplicably died down.

‘Miku ’ had stated that she found the house by following them. This would imply that her, a normal civilian, had tracking and concealment techniques that far exceeded the anti-tracking and scouting abilities of an elite shinobi. Yet Anko hadn't found anything amiss.

‘How?!’

Anko internally voiced in slight fear.

The old man who seemed to have read her thoughts spoke out

"Perchance thou had fallen under the spell of a mind hex"

“Mind what?”

Everybody in the room simultaneously asked.

“Consider it a forgotten phantasm, a tedious artifice, one that is utterly unfit for battle"

'What does that mean, is it a form of genjutsu?'

Anko had many questions but she settled for asking the most important one

“How does it work”

“ 'Tis a subtle suggestion that soweth a seed, one which hath the power to exert a gentle sway o'er thy thoughts"

Seeing that everyone remained silent he added

"Fear not, dear friend, for this subtle art requireth much preparation and time to wield, and its power doth not extend to forcing thy hand against thy will. 'Tis capable, however, of clouding thy mind to details and stirring thy emotions to a frenzy. Yet, once thou dost become aware of its influence, thy liberation is all but certain. And, by thy tale, it seemed thou wast on the cusp of breaking free!"

“that explains everything”

Anko muttered while wondering who had cast the hex on her. It could have been the director, or maybe the one known as Kenzo.

It didn’t really matter anymore since everyone of them, along with the entire hospital, had been reduced to ash.

“something is bothering me”

Everyone turned to the corner of the room where the lady with long white hair was seated.

She had acted as a spectator all this while and was now speaking for the first time

“this guy …enzo”

“Kenzo”

“yeah whatever, Kenzo ... as you call him”

Her gaze glided over the people in the room and landed firmly on Anko

“why would he mention a tailed beast?”

Her words didn’t stop there

“It’s not a term you casually use at random"

"That's a good question"

Anko replied dryly before falling back into her thoughts

'if they were fishing for a reaction it would mean any kind feedback might be capable of influencing their plans'

"Doth thou think they plan to steal away the beast?"

the large man voiced out

Anko was startled

'Beast? The 7 tails? That's Impossible! Right?"

“It’s not imposible”

She finally said upon careful contemplation.

The involvement of the hidden cloud was something that always troubled her. But, with this direction of thinking, their place in the grand scheme of things had been revealed.

'The hidden cloud will help kusagakure abduct the 7 tails and then, armed with a bijuu, Kusagakure will launch an assault on the weakened Konoha'

This story checked out with the rumours of the war that was spreading about.

“hmmm… and I didst wander why they sought my talent in crafting those seals”

“what seals”

Anko hastily spat out.

"Several days past, under the cover of stealth I was released from the castle's walls to help forge a seal"

"Castle?"

"Hozuki castle. The shared prison of the five great nations"

Anko almost flinched back. She already knew already that this character wasn't simple but it's now she realized that she'd underestimated the depth to him.

The hidden villages each had their own prisons. After all, the body of a shinobi was a treasure trove valuable secrets.

There were only two kinds of people sent to hozuki castle.

The first were those who didn't have any special qualities and the second, those whose political presence made it impossible for a single village to hold them captive.

Judging from what she'd seen Anko was willing to bet that he was the latter.

Meanwhile…

Karin just sat silently and listened with a seemingly lost and confused expression.

Her brain however, was going haywire.

‘What? How? Why?!’

From things like

‘who brings their kid on a mission’

To stuff like

‘this dude basically nuked the city and everyone is pretending it’s all good’

At this point, she was sure that the missing Uchiha child was reincarnated into this world just like her.

The reason was because she had to constantly disguise her intelligence and have interactions with children her current age. This made her quite certain of their mental capabilities.

It would also explain why the father of said child subconsciously treated her like a grown up.

And, if these facts weren’t already evidence enough, Anko’s asking for the meaning of "Po the Kung Fu panda" hammered the nail in the coffin.

‘hehe, I can’t wait to meet him. Hopefully he's not dead'

While thinking of this she heard her mother’s voice

“umm, I get them wanting to steal a tailed beast but why would they also kidnap the child”

“It’s because he’s an Uchiha”

The hoarse voice came from a person who had wobbled his way to the entrance of the room. Tengen was finally awake!
