When Wednesday came back to the dormroom the next semester she had expected a few things to happen.
First of all, her roomie would be there.
Secondly, Enid would rush over to her and try to hug her.
Neither of these things happened when she walked into the dorm room she shared with Enid.
Instead, she found the werewolf on her bed, squirming in pain. On any other occasion and with any other person she would be delighted to see such a lovely surprise. The fact that it was Enid who was doing the squirming and letting out pained whines threw the young Seer off.
She frowned and after she had closed the door, moved closer to the bed that Enid was curled on.
"Enid?" The name came from her much more fluently now than it had done during last semester when the two were introduced. However, when Wednesday said her roommates name there was no response. Against her better judgment and her highly intolerance of anything that represented color other than black, she stepped into Enid's part of the room.
Another pitiful whimper escaped the werewolf who seemed to wish nothing more than to curl into a ball and forget the world around her.
"Enid, are you hurt?" Wednesday asked and was putting a plan together to subdue whoever did this to her friend into a painful meeting with whatever medieval torture device she could come up with. "Who did this to you, Enid?" She asked once again and this time, she placed a gentle hand on Enids's upper arm to try and get her attention.
Normally Wednesday would never touch anyone under any kind of circumstances but her rules had changed since she and her roommate had hugged after defeating Crackstone. She had never thought that hugging someone would be something she'd ever do. She set up the walls around her heart carefully and precisely, but somehow Enid managed to sneak past that barrier and wormed her way into her heart.
The fact that Enid saved her life in the woods after Tyler nearly got the better of her made Wednesday realize that her roomie was a true friend, someone she could count on when the stakes were high.
The two had been separated for quite a while until the new semester and the first thing that Wednesday saw when she entered was the once bubbly girl crying in pain on her bed. It would simply not do and she'd get to the bottom of all of it, once she'd get Enid to tell her who was responsible for her anguish.
"W-Wednesday?" the pain in her voice tugged at Wednesday's heart. "I-is that really you?" Enid asked and for a moment she seemed to forget the pain she was experiencing.
Wednesday almost smiled but nodded. "Of course, someone needs to keep you in check." she forced down the nauseating feeling in her gut when she sat down on Enid's bed. "Why are you hurt? What happened?"
Enid's face turned a bright red at the questions and she buried her face in her colorful pillow. Wednesday could hear her mumble something but thanks to the pillow she had no way of understanding what on earth the wolf was saying.
"Enid," she said strictly and the woman in question let out a pathetic whimper at the mentioning of her name. "Give me a name and I will end them."
Enid held onto her pillow for dear life when she turned ever so slightly, enough for her eyes to lock with Wednesday's. "I-I-" she swallowed thickly, clearly embarrassed to speak.
