a little piece of advice

The time she spent at home this morning wasn't exactly ideal for Tilly. But despite the way it made her feel, she knew that she couldn't dwell on that. Not when she knew Sarah had a big appointment with her doctor this morning. Something like that was far more important.

After a few lessons had passed, Tilly was finally able to find Sarah as she stood at her locker. Swiftly moving towards her best friend, Tilly couldn't help but rush out her question of how her appointment went. Although, she could tell Sarah didn't exactly want to talk about it, it being obvious with the way Sarah avoided her eyes, she wanted to at least make it clear that she was here for the girl.

"Hey, you don't have to tell me what happened Sarah," Tilly began, taking full notice of the uncomfortable look across her friend's face, "I just wanted you to know that I'm here if you wanted to talk about it"

"Tils" Sarah sighed.

Tilly continued anyway, "I know I've been gone for a few years and we're still building our friendship back up. But I want you to know that I'll be here when you do want to tell me anything, okay?"

She took further notice of how Sarah hesitated to speak any further and she didn't want to make her feel worse. If anything, she just wanted to show the girl she cared, despite what she puts across to everyone else. Tilly grabbed her arm to pull her along with a small smile, just as Sarah sent one back.

It's not that Sarah didn't want to tell her about her appointment. If anything, she trusted the girl more than most people she had ever met. But where would she even begin? How would she tell her best friend of the things she did in the time she was gone? What if Tilly couldn't handle being friends with her anymore, knowing how messed up she was? She knew Tilly wasn't like that but still.

Maybe one day, when the time was right, she'll tell her.

As they made their way through the hallway, they were soon joined by Jordan, who greeted them with a small, slightly awkward smile.

"Hey, you weren't in first period class this morning" Jordan started, "everything alright?"

"Not according to my mom" Sarah replied, annoyance clear in her voice. Then she recognised the looks the other two were sending her, showing their concern, making her attempt to cover it up quickly, "it's fine, just some dumb family drama stuff"

The dismissive nature of Sarah's words made Jordan and Tilly lock eyes with furrowed brows. But whilst they had the silent agreement of not saying anything further about the situation, Jordan took his moment to change the subject.

"Hey uh—I've been meaning to ask you this" he stuttered a little. Tilly could see the awkwardness beginning to settle over them, even before Jordan continued. She tried to find a floor tile beneath her feet to find particularly interesting but she couldn't. Not when the next words Jordan spoke hit her ears, "after school, could we possibly hang out—"

"Oh, I'm gonna be late" Sarah quickly rushed out. Tilly frowned at the sudden fright funnelled into her voice and followed Sarah's line of sight to see Sean stood in the centre of the hallway staring the three down.

Tilly couldn't refrain the urge to roll her eyes at the way he stood glaring at them for literally just interacting with each other, as far as he was concerned.

Asshole.

Sarah slapped her friend's arms before running off in her supposed boyfriend's direction, not without shouting at their still figures, "so I'll talk to you guys later?"

"Come on, Jordan" Tilly mumbled, tapping his arm. But they didn't even get to take a step when Jonathan walked in between them, leaning on both of their shoulders.
