"Two essays in one night, it's ridiculous" Jordan ranted as he, Jonathan and Tilly made their way into the school.
Jonathan just laughed, with a knowing look, "I know right"
"You guys don't even want to know what my old school thought one hour of homework included" Tilly joked, giving a fake shiver to which the boys only laughed further at.
"Like he can't even write himself" Jordan continued, the frustration still coursing through him at the thought of their asshole of a teacher. In reality, this 'teacher' shouldn't even be called a teacher. Not when he couldn't control one student, never mind a whole class of them. But the real reason the students didn't like him was because he didn't respect them. Simple as that. But sadly, this meant the teacher took this out on his students, knowing what a mess it would make of their lives.
If you couldn't tell already, the man was a big asshole.
It was at that moment that Sarah turned the corner, with a large box in hand, that she put down on the table beside them. It didn't even seem as if she had noticed them as she strolled by.
But that soon changed when Jonathan greeted her loudly, the others putting on big smiles as they said hello simultaneously.
"Wow. They really go all out with this Harvest Fest stuff, huh?" Jonathan declared, making the rest of them scan their eyes over the decorations that were being put out.
The Harvest Fest. How Tilly missed this. It may be a stupid tradition to some people outside of the town but for the people who knew the town, who are a part of this town, it's more than anything stupid.
When fall finally arrives, it announces the end of summer. That's true. But you know what else is true? Fall is when harvest time truly hits. With the way Smallville worked, harvesting was truly significant to the progression the town continues to grasp and there was no other way to honour that than to celebrate it. With the Harvest moon ever so close, what better time to do it than now. And so that's what the town sets out to do. With endless stacks of hay, stands of drinks, mostly alcohol, stands of food and live entertainment – all to show their appreciation. It was a beautiful tradition in which the town comes together once a year.
But for now, the celebrations were only just getting started.
"I know it's kinda hokey but it has its own kind of specialness" Sarah replied with a small shrug.
"It's a tradition guys. One that Smallville takes very seriously. And now that you guys are here, you should be taking it seriously too" Tilly added, sending pointed looks to both boys.
Jordan scoffed lightly, "you sound like my dad"
"Shut up" Sarah nudged the boy, leaving Jonathan and Tilly to just smirk at the interaction. Finding themselves at Jonathan's locker, he dropped his bag on the floor, beginning to rummage through it. "Um, you guys going tonight?"
"Yeah. Actually, Eliza's coming too" Jonathan added. Tilly raised an eyebrow at the mention of Jonathan's girlfriend actually coming to town. She couldn't lie, she thought it was going to be pretty interesting to meet the girl. From the very brief talks she's had with the boy, she seemed like a nice girl. But Tilly would be able to make her own decision once she came. For Jonathan's sake. No one wants to be with someone fake. After all, she would know.
Sarah was the first to voice her surprise, "Ooo, Metropolis girl"
However, she was clearly a little less intrigued by this Eliza's appearance than Tilly was, despite her not showing it. Then Sarah turned to Jordan just after her words were let out with a coy smile, "what about you? Do you maybe... want to go together?"
