The time had finally come for the first big game for Smallville High School.
Tilly was cheering as peppy as she could force herself to. She wasn't exactly used to putting on such a bright smile in front of so many people. But if she was going to continue doing cheer, something she really liked, she might just have to continue making this sacrifice. But the one thing that made up for it had to be the outfit.
The skirt she wore really did her justice – if she said so herself.
Lana stood before them, leading them through their cheers, giving them encouraging shouts every so often. It made her feel a lot more at ease knowing that she was with them for her first game.
However, as much as the cheer squad was doing great, the football team wasn't doing as well.
Tilly hoped that Coach would bring in one, if not both Kent brothers onto the field because frankly, their team was dying out there. Soon, her prayers were answered when a voice chimed over the speakers, announcing Jordan's arrival onto the field. Tilly felt relieved and waited to hear the next announcement of Jonathan but it never came. Glancing over to where Coach was stood, she could see Jonathan stood beside Clark, clearly dejected over his lack of play time.
As much as she was happy for Jordan, she felt bad for Jonathan. He played football long before Jordan and now he was the one taking the bench. Even after all the slack the other players put him through simply because Jordan was his brother. It wasn't right in her book. Unfortunately for Tilly, she couldn't do anything about it. She was just a cheerleader at best. Yeah, she had the confidence to walk up to Coach and demand him to let Jonathan play alongside his brother but that probably wouldn't end too well for either of the Kent brothers.
Hopefully it's work itself out without her help.
But as the game resumed, Smallville quickly bounced back, mostly thanks to Jordan. He tackled player after player, allowing his team to rack up the points higher and higher. She even noticed Jonathan chirping up in support of his brother.
The game reached its big crescendo when Jordan tackled a player in their way, allowing one of the players to snatch the ball, making the final touchdown. Cheers and scream filled the bleachers and field as the team celebrated by picking up Jordan onto their shoulders, cherishing their victory, thanks to the Kent boy.
It was a great moment. All the cheerleaders performed their final routine, with the crowd still cheering as everyone continued to celebrate.
Not too long after, everyone had scattered, with the team going back to the locker room and the audience having left. But now was the time for the after party. Well, maybe it was less of an after party and more of a gathering at the diner... but who cares about specifics, right?
Tilly and Sarah both arrived together but funnelled their way through the hordes of teenage boys to make it to the counter. After sitting there for a little while, they were soon joined by Tag and then Jonathan who sat the other side of Tilly, whilst letting out a heavy sigh. But before any of them could say anything to each other, the diner erupted into cheers and applause, practically announcing Jordan's arrival to the whole town.
"He doesn't even like football" Jonathan grunted.
"JJ, it's okay to feel disappointed over all of this. You played football first and Jordan takes the limelight after one game, it's okay to feel hurt" Tilly spoke, squeezing his arm lightly, trying not to be too blunt towards his upset state.
Since when did Tilly become the sympathetic one?
But Sarah didn't seem to recognise his upset, or at least understand it as well as Tilly could.
