Wen Qing chose a serene bamboo grove outside the palace for her meeting with Emperor Wei.
The soft rustling of leaves in the cool breeze created a calming atmosphere, ideal for their conversation.
As they walked through the grove, Wei Wúxiàn could sense the tension in Wen Qing. He decided to let her speak first, knowing that she had something important to share.
“Your Majesty,” Wen Qing began, her voice steady but tinged with vulnerability, “there is something I have been meaning to tell you.”
Wei Wúxiàn stopped and turned to face her, his expression gentle. “Please, Wen Qing, speak your heart.”
She took a deep breath, her eyes glistening with emotion. “I have admired you for so long. Your strength, your kindness, your spirit... I have fallen in love with you, Wei Wúxiàn. I can no longer keep these feelings to myself.”
Wei Wúxiàn felt a pang of Guilt. He had known this moment might come, and he had dreaded it. He didn't want to hurt her, but she deserves his honesty “Princess Wen Qing, you are a remarkable person, and I am deeply honored by your feelings. But I must be honest with you As well. My heart belongs to someone else.”
Wen Qing’s face fell, and tears began to well up in her eyes. “I see. I suppose I always knew, deep down, that your heart was already taken. But hearing it from you still hurts.”
Wei Wúxiàn stepped closer, his voice soft and comforting. “Wen Qing, I never wanted to cause you pain. You deserve to be loved fully and completely. There is someone who loves you just as deeply as you love me. Someone who is waiting for you to see them with the same eyes you see Me.”
Wen Qing looked at him, confusion and curiosity in her tear-streaked eyes. “Who, Your Majesty? Who could love me like that?”
Wei Wúxiàn gave her a gentle smile.
“Princess Luo She has loved you for as long as she can remember. She admires your strength, your compassion, your dedication. She sees you for who you truly are and loves you whole- heartedly.”
Wen Qing’s eyes widened in surprise. “Princess Luo? I never realized...”
Wei Wúxiàn nodded. “She has been afraid to tell you, fearing her feelings might not be returned. But now you know. Perhaps, if you look at her with the same eyes, you might find a love as true and deep as the one you hoped for.”
Wen Qing wiped her tears, a mix of emotions playing across her face. “Thank you, Your Majesty. I need some time to think about this.”
Wei Wúxiàn pats her shoulder lightly in a comforting gesture. “Take all the time you need. Love is patient and kind, and it will wait for you.”
