The palace was settling into the quiet of evening as Emperor Wei Wúxiàn finished his last engagement for the day.
He had been eagerly anticipating his date with his Lan Zhan, his heart light with the thought of spending time with the one he loved.
As he made his way to the library, he found Lan Wangji waiting, a peaceful expression on his face.
“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji greeted him with a soft smile. “You look tired.”
Wei Wúxiàn grinned, though there was a weariness in his eyes. “It’s been a long day, Lan Zhan, nothing much. But I was hoping we could go out and have some fun.”
Lan Wangji shook his head gently. “You need rest, Wei Ying. We will stay here in the library.”
Wei Wúxiàn pouted playfully but followed Lan Wangji into the quiet Haven of the royal library. The room was lit by lanterns. The atmosphere was calming, a perfect contrast to the busyness of the day.
“Come,” Lan Wangji said, guiding Wei Wúxiàn to a comfortable spot near a window. He sat down and patted his lap. “Rest your head here.”
Wei Wúxiàn hesitated for a moment, then complied, laying his head on Lan Wangji’s lap. As soon as he settled, he felt a wave of relaxation wash over him. The Omega's presence was soothing, and the gentle hum of his voice as he began to read from a book added to the blissfulness.
Within moments, Wei Wúxiàn’s eyes fluttered closed, and he drifted into a sleep, his breathing steady and calm.
Not far away, Lan disciples Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi watched the scene with a mixture of envy and amusement.
“Look at him,” Lan Jingyi whispered, nudging Lan Sizhui. “The Emperor is gets all of Hánguāng-jūn attention. It’s not fair!”
Lan Sizhui nodded, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “We should do something. Maybe play a small prank.”
Just as they were brewing their plan, Wei Yuan, the second prince of Yiling, noticed their plotting. Sensing their intentions, he decided to intervene. He has never seen his brother so relaxed before, and he was not letting anyone disturb them.
“Hey, you two,” Wei Yuan called softly, approaching them. “What are you up to?”
Lan Jingyi and Lan Sizhui exchanged a calculating looks. “We were just... talking,” Lan Jingyi said, sounding innocent.
Wei Yuan raised an eyebrow, not buying their act. “Really? It looked like you were planning something more. How about you join me for a game instead? I could use some good company.”
Lan Jingyi perked up at the suggestion. “A game? What kind of game?”
Wei Yuan smiled, leading them away from the library. “Something fun and challenging. Let’s see who’s the better strategist.”
The two disciples, distracted by the new challenge, followed Wei Yuan eagerly, their previous plans forgotten.
Lan Wangji continued reading, his voice a soothing melody that filled the quiet room. He glanced down at Wei Wúxiàn, who was now deeply asleep, a peaceful expression on his face. Lan Wangji’s heart swelled with affection as he gently brushed a strand of hair from Wei Wúxiàn’s forehead.
The library, usually a place of study, had transformed into a sanctuary of love and peace for the two of them.
Lan Wangji felt content, knowing that in this moment, Wei Wúxiàn was resting, free from the burdens of his imperial duties.
As the night grew deeper, Lan Wangji continued to read, as his fingers moved gently, stroking his Alpha's hair with soothing strokes.
Wei Wúxiàn stirred awake, He blinked, his eyes adjusting to the dim light of the library. For a moment, he forgot where he was, but the warmth of Lan Wangji’s lap and the soft touch of his fingers on his hair quickly brought him back to the present.
“Lan Zhan?” Wei Wúxiàn murmured, his voice thick with sleep.
Lan Wangji paused his reading and looked down, his expression tender. “Wei Ying, did you rest well?”
Wei Wúxiàn sat up slowly, stretching and yawning. “I did. You always know how to make me feel better.”
Lan Wangji set the book aside and cupped Wei Wúxiàn’s face in his hands. “You work so hard, Wei Ying. You deserve to rest.”
Wei Wúxiàn leaned into the touch, closing his eyes and savoring the moment. “And you always know just how to take care of me. What am I going to do without you, Lan Zhan.”
Lan Wangji’s eyes softened, a rare smile gracing his lips. “Nothing, You are doing everything with me and No one else.” the poor Omega said it innocently.
Wúxiàn gave a mischievous smirk "Yes Darling, I'm going to do everything with you Everyday for the rest of my life." He winked at the Omega.
Lan Wangji still not understanding his implications Smiled even more brightly.
Wei Wúxiàn meets Lan Wangji’s gaze. The love and devotion in those golden eyes made his heart swell with emotion. Without another word, he leaned in, pressing his lips to Lan Wangji’s in a tender kiss.
The kiss was slow and gentle, a dance of love. Lan Wangji’s hands slid from Wei Wúxiàn’s face to his neck, pulling him closer. Wei Wúxiàn responded by wrapping his arms around Lan Wangji’s Waist, deepening the kiss.
When they finally parted, both were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other. Wei Wúxiàn chuckled softly. “I could stay like this forever.”
Lan Wangji nodded, his voice a whisper. “So could I.”
Wei Wúxiàn rested his head on Lan Wangji’s shoulder, sighing contentedly. “Thank you for this, Lan Zhan. For always knowing what I need, even when I don’t.”
“Mn.” Lan Wangji kissed Wei Wúxiàn on the cheeks.
Wei Wúxiàn smiled, feeling a sense of peace and belonging that he had only ever known with Lan Wangji.
They stayed like that for a long time, wrapped in each other’s embrace, the world outside the library forgotten. In that moment, there was only love, binding them together in a bond that nothing could break.
As the night deepened, they eventually returned into their respective chambers, knowing that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, united in their love.
